Comfortably established after four hundred years of existence. All spruced up, it offers its Henry IV style, interpreted with regional inspiration in its proportions, harmoniously decorated in total respect for the region and its history. When Louis XIV m
Was amazed at the beauty of the interior of the restaurant and the rotisserie before a wood burning fire. And then the chefs came out to talk with us and explain the daily specials. Food was excellent with a choice wide enough to please everyone but small enough to allow proper preparation and cooking. Front of house were young and helpful but sometimes their English was quite limited. This is a must visit destination

Being located across the car park from our hotel this was an obvious choice as prices were similar to Les Trois Brasseries, Courtepaille and Quick over the road. There was the added interest in that parts of the restaurant are located in ex SNCF railway dining cars attached to the first floor of the building 10ft off the ground! We enjoyed the wide variety of buffet food available and the unlimited wine or beer(Yes genuinely)Do ask to sit in the dining cars as the atmosphere is full of nostalgia especially for an oldie like me..

After glass of champagne I had the real Lucullus Valenciennes as a starter (goose foie gras with smoked tongue, pear chutney and saffron), which it a local speciality. For main course I took flamed beef tournedos with mushrooms and caramelized brown sugar. Well, it were not medallions, but one incredibly huge and amazingly tender steak!Unfortunately I don´t remember the name of my desert, but it was awesome as all previous courses. But what I remember well was really experienced waitress, who recommended us special kind of wine for each meal. Les Arcades has only one disadvantage, and it´s menu in french.

The service was good and food great.I would eat at this place again when I return to the city.Monsieur,Je vous remercie d'avoir pris le temps de laisser un commentaire si favorable et espère vous accueillir très bientôt au restaurant L'EscargotCordialement,Hugues TENEUR

This place is walking distance from the railway station, and it was also easy to park the car. Pleasant clean atmosphere, high level food for a very reasonable price. Pleasant people.

I ate at La Table de Christophe during a job trip in Valenciennes and I have to say this place is fantastic!!!Great food (cheese selection, fois gras, terrine, angus steak with rosemary butter, chocolate mousse), great and warm atmosphere. All is worth the price!! If I ever come back to Valenciennes, this place will be my first choice for a dinner!!

A very Nice Restaurant a short walk from the Notre dam Hotel, we found out why it was busy the food is excellent and the atmosphere matches it. It is on 3 x floors and the waiting staff fly around efficiently and with a smile, the food and drinks is served promptly even though it was very busy at the time of our visit. We had Rump steak which to our horror was served cold and raw lol the hot flat stones soon followed and we started to cook our steaks to our own individual liking, it was very good indeed, what a nice way to have your meat served. We had beers and Coffees to follow our meals which were all equally nice, the staff are exceptional. What a Great Restaurant and great people. Well done all .Thank you very much Chris E ! We are so glad that you appreciate our services and our food.It will be a pleasure to see you again Chez Mon Vieux.

We arrived here on our way back home from France, looking forward to enjoying Michelin star food for our lunch. The restaurant is very pleasant without having outstanding character and we have eaten better food in other establishments that do not have a Michelin star, and those that do.We chose to eat from the lower priced menu simply because there were a number of dishes both myself and my wife liked the sound of. This could have had a bearing on the enjoyment of the food but I have not found that to be an issue in the past. To be clear, the food was good but nothing stood out as being particularly special and we would have expected that. The service was fine but could have been better, at times we felt a little ignored which may have been due to two other large groups eating in the restaurant at the time. This should not however affect the quality of service. The wine list is also good and well priced.

Stopped in Valenciennes on drive back to UK. This restaurant was rated 1 in the area on tripadvisor so gave it a go. It is a little out of town and really is little more than a take away with half a dozen tables or so. It doesn't really look like a #1 restaurant, more like a place the owners friends have rated well, but the food (we had pizza and pasta) was generously sized and very tasty. Service was very good, drinks were very good and the owner was happy for our young son to watch him make the pizzas and place them into what looks like a good wood fired pizza oven (not that i am an expert on what makes a good oven other than what comes out of it).Very unassuming but very good.

Found this place by accident. We loved it! The staff is welcoming and helpful. The food very good and the decor is really cosy and authentic. The fire was lit and that was it.The portions are large so if you are a small eater, beware. I ordered "Entrecôte" (steak) and only ate half of it because it was huge.
