This was our third visit to this combination restaurant and butcher shop. The first time was a recommendation by the guy who runs the excellent wine shop in the same shopping complex - La Cave de Virgile. They specialize in beef, though pork and lamb are available both on the carte and in the butcher case. Don't expect super imaginative dishes with extravagant sauces. This place is all about the meat - French, Italian, Argentinian, American. We've tried the lamb and the pork, but always go back to the beef. This is a great place to have steak tartare, and it is excellent. The meat is well sourced and prepared to order. Excellent dauphinoise potatoes, very good 'frites' and a well dressed salad. The wine list is correctly priced with local wines - which is a good thing, considering that Chateau Simone and Chateau Cremade are just around the corner. The delicious desserts are made 'in house'. Look out for the 'Dessert du jour', which when we were there was a delicious looking Tarte Tatin. This is a 'locals' restaurant and they would seem to get very few Anglophone customers. That being said, the service is professional, prompt, and friendly. We will be back.

We've been there a few days ago for a friend gathering and it didn't disappointed us. The starters and main dishes were just succulent with the according presentation in the plate. Staff is efficient and amiable. Have to do it again.

We ate here recently and as it was our first night in the area and it was late we took the recommendation from our accommodation to eat here.Good stuff..nice staff, nice breads..actually really nice bread..nice food and nice wineBad stuff.... all of the above nice stuff was way overpriced.. our bill was 120⬠for what I can safely say would have cost me â¬80 at home in a similar standard restaurant..indeed we ate 2 other nights in Aix en Provence in restaurants of similar standard and the bills on both occasions were less then â¬70. The food was good enough for a 4 star rating and although I want to rate it at 3 stars I feel it would be unfair to the business to do that as the only complaint I have was over its pricing so I am giving it 4 with a caveat....its not cheap

Just off the motorway, but you'd never know it, quiet country style establishment. They have a great choice of meat & really know how to cook it. They grill indoors on a huge wood burning griddle & it can get very hot - fortunately there's a very pleasant terrace so you can eat alfresco.

Our first night in Provence. This restaurant was just up the road from our accommodation so we thought we'd try it out. It was a Sunday evening and for most of the night we were the only people there..... Our waitress understood but didn't speak English so we had a lot of fun communicating in our poor French. She was a good sport! She recommended one of the local Provençal Rose wines to have with our meal and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Food-wise - our shared starter of Assiette des Tapas was simply outstanding and not a morsel left on the plate. The mains were substantial, well presented but just seemed a bit lacking in seasoning or flavouring. And the main our daughter chose off the kids' menu was basically just a beef patty and masses of French fries. Not a vegetable in sight...... Overall we had a really enjoyable night, let down only by the children's meal and slight lack of flavour in the mains. Otherwise - if you're in the Fuveau area I would certainly recommend it. But avoid the kids' menu.

Delightful service, food very attractive and tasty! Not a vast menu but enough to suit most tastes. Nice decor, a welcome addition to the village. Will be going to eat there again , soon!

"Vito" owns 2 different restaurants at 10'walking distance in the city centre of Aix. We went to the most famous but could not enter since it was fully booked and we were readdressed to the second one; even more central. The ambience, the furniture and the logo are the same (later we discovered that they are sharing also the personnel). You can enjoy real Italian pizza since the "pizzaioli" (pizza maker and his apprentice) are Italian. Moreover they are using the original ingredients : tomato sauce (not ketchup) and mozzarella (not other type of cheese). well prepared and well baked in the oven. Quick service. Helpful staff. No Wi-Fi. A bit expensive, but it is in the very touristic area. A negative note is the nomenclature of the pizzas. All the names are invented (despite the fact that they are recalling Italian persons; but sincerely I cannot understand why pizza with anchovies is called Fellini (director of "La dolce vita") and not Napoli according to the real Italian tradition. Same for San Paolo that is usually called Margherita. Italian people are slightly disappointed about this change of tradition and non Italian people don't even realize. Few table outside (but it was very hot) and many more inside in an air conditioned area.Positive, worth to return.

What a surprise. A hotel restaurant that serves anazing food, warm service in a beautiful dinning room. We had an excellent meal, original, fresh. Well prepared. From a truly amusing "amuse bouche" of potatoes and pickled califlower to an tasty rioast pork main and a tasty foie gras and artichokes ravioli starter. Pricing was very reasonable compared to the quality and originality of the cuisine. Worth a visit, not just a convient hotel dining room. Definitely make this a destination for a wonderful meal in Aix en Provence.Dear SeascapeScott,What a real pleasure to read such a good comment about our restaurant le Comptoir du Clos!We are really pleased to note that you enjoyed your tasting, our delicate dishes and especially our amuse-bouche.Our chef Arnaud Davin and his team will be delighted to welcome you again.Best regards,
