I was invited by my French friend who's been to this restaurant a few times and have raved about the food.Do not let the look of the restaurant from the outside deceive you. The moment you go in, you are greeted by very friendly staff, most specially Valerie. Not only is Valerie warm and attentive, she is also incredibly funny, and she looks likeJulia Louis DreyfusWe ordered 2 starters. A baby squid cooked in olive oil garlic and parsley...Its one of the bestsquid I've over had. The other starter..i don't remember the name was just as good...we finishedboth starters completely and was literally begging for more. For the main course, we had the tuna skewer with scallop, etc, and also the cod fish. The portions are generously large. The dishes are served with an assortment of fresh produce, and the sauces are absolutely exquisite, you think you're dining in a Michelin starred restaurant. The taste of the food is really mind blowing.Even the dessert was heaven. From the entrée to the dessert...everything was excellent.Just as we were leaving, we had a good chat with the owner / chef Pelot...He's really funny, and very passionate. This has been one of the best meals I've had in my life, and I would definitely recommend this place.

"The Ithurria Isabal family have been welcoming guests to the Ithurria Hotel in Aïnhou, France, for three generations. Set in the Basque countryside, the hotel has a warm, rustic ambience and is located close to the coast and the Spanish border. The dinin
Nice hotel restaurant in a pretty Basque village. Very comfortable to sit in, friendly professional service. The food was generally good except for the suckling pig which we all thought was very dry and a bit disappointing, I usually love suckling pig.The deserts on the fixed price menu were tasty but very rich, no light option offered but I'm sure they would have provided one if I'd asked, so my fault.Glad we tried it but not sure I'd go back again as for me it lacked the 'wow' factor. We thank you for having taken the time to write a few words on the restaurant. Any comment is useful to improve. We, however, would be happy to welcome you another time to live the 'wow' impression that so many of our clients experience.

We stumbled across this delightful café/restaurant after traipsing in the rain in search of somewhere open for lunch and were so glad to come across it! This âTarterie/ Salon de Théâ is a very cheerful place, quirkily decorated to the smallest details (the bill holders are small watering-cans). It offers a selections of tarts (or quiches), savoury and sweet, one more enticing than the other and all freshly made. The service was lovely too and we left the place all refreshed and chirpy. Definitely seek it out if you are passing through Cambo-les-Bains!

we enjoyed dinner here when we were staying in the sister hotel across the road. The food was delicious and the views from the restaurant terrace were superb. I would wholeheartedly recommend this as an excellent place to eat.

I would say they worth a Michelin star. Unbelievable delicious food. They offer wide choice of wines. Excellent service. Price is very reasonable.

In the Hôtel Restaurant du Chene, next to the church of Itxassou, one of the most beautiful church in The Basque Country (from the 17th century), you will be warmly welcomed and will enjoy a peaceful and gastronomic moment. Five minutes away from Espelett
We were spending a couple of days at a nearby B & B, when we were told about Restaurant du Chene by our host.Arriving slightly earlier than the local dinner hour, we were seated right away, and attended to throughout delicious meals chosen from the extensive menu. A delightful dining experience, complete with; good service; good food and wine; fair prices and a nice ambiance.

We chose this restaurant because it seemed nice, but we were totally fooled. The menu was outdated, and what was ordered from the menu was no longer available. In the end, we were forced to order things that were available, things that did not appeal as much as the items on the menu. There was absolutely nothing without meat, which is troublesome for someone vegetarien, like me. The waitress wasn't exactly friendly, and overall we paid a lot for what little service and food we had. The town is nice, as well as the chili, but the people have no regard for tourists.

The flavours were so authentic and dishes carefully prepared. I loved the variety but I wasn't very daring. I loved the traditional Basque dishes. There was something for everyone - for the unadventurous, the traditional and the very adventurous diner had the option of locally farmed pigeon and rabbit. Service was excellent with great patience and pride shown in explaining in English the dishes and the origins of the produce used. The wines and drinks list was extensive. Lovely evening.

We discovered this restaurant, randomly.Well situated in center, nice and kind team, efficient service. We took regional plates, which were all good (9 ppl, 6 different plates), deserts were also regional and very good as well as Iruleguy wine.Cooker is great!215 euros for 9 people (8 adults, 1 kid), with 9 drinks+1 btl of wine+9 main dish+6 deserts+4 coffees. Quite nice for the quality of food and beverage!Place to go, for sure!

My wife and I had a great lunch here, in the pepper town of Espellete. At lunch, only the three course menu was available, but it was quite delicious. We both had the squid salad, which was fantastic. I then had the brandade, while my wife had the veal. While the brandade was good, I liked the veal better. We finished off with a nice chocolate dessert. All washed down with a local Basque white and this was a great meal. The chef came out and talked to us afterward and he was very nice. Go here instead of the tourist restaurants on the main street!
