This is an expandable restaurant with rooms and a garden that can be opened as demand increases. On the night we visited there were only a small number of tables occupied so the ambiance was cosy-ish.Service from the proprietor and his young assistant was friendly and attentive and the food was pretty good, and the bill was reasonable. There is not a lot of restaurant choice in the villages around this area so this place was a welcome oasis.

When we found the correct entrance and dining room, there are several, we reviewed the menu, which was standard Alsace fare. There was a enough to allow my daughter her typically plain choice and for the rest of us to choose something more adventurous .Schnitzel type food with cream sauce and various potatoes. restaurant was packed due to holiday but served quickly and efficiently.

Arrived here when travelling to Switzerland and were hungry in the evening, left the mainroad and arrived in Fegersheim. The restaurant has a lovely terraceb and the inside of the restaurant is a typical and traditional Strasburg area.We were welcommed very jovial and started of with a local spring beer and Muscat d'Alsace. Then we went for the asperges menu with a started that was very original with a liquid egg on a nest of crispy and fine angelhair in a cremy asperges soup. The combination of the cream, crsip and then liquid egg was perfect. The trio of asperges with smoked bacon, local ham and on a toast with fine cut fermented asperges. The last combination was once again very original and was a great variety and diversification on the theme of asperges. The recommended Muscat d'Alsace went very well with the menu. We'll come back when we'll pass in this area.Thank you for your comment, it is a pleasure...best regards
On reviendra.

I have been visiting this excellent restaurant for many years, privately and on business. It is a typical informal, friendly, efficient restaurant with a wide menu choice and great wine selection. They make the best Tarte Flambée /Flammkuchen in Alsace. There are two main dining areas with great atmosphere, and in summer the terrace is perfect. I will be there again in two weeks time, it just can't be missed if you are in the area. It can understandably get quite busy, but the staff are very efficient.

Great restaurant (the only one in Osthouse) ! The chef (Jean-Philippe Hellmann) creates dishes on a quite high level and they are not only presented very well, but they taste just great ! The service is nice and the choice of dishes offers something for everybody.

Driving back north from Freiburg, we decided to get off the Autobahn to avoid further traffic jam and left the A5 at Kappel, through the village to the river Rhine, a four minute free auto-ferry to France and then directly turned onto the D20 in the direction of Strasbourg, parallel to the river. After just a couple of miles the road turns left to the direction of Erstein and after the roundabout approaching the village Krafft, it is the second road to the right. This rue des Muguets will lead you directly to the Auberge. We went there for lunch on a Friday and the place was crowded with locals. The service was okay, but be aware that they don't speak or understand English, so you better exercise on your French (intertwined with some German words is okay in this area, it is Alsace). The 'couvert' with bread is inviting and the food that came (salad of warm goat cheese with nuts, the salade Périgourdine with foie gras, smoked ham, smoked salmon, a rather big cordon bleu with Munster cheese and the 'saumon et sandre' fish dish, a great combination of these two fishes) was just amazingly delicious. We couldn't try something from the inviting wine list because we had to drive, but will certainly do so next time. Because we will absolutely go back again whenever we are in the area of Alsace or southwestern Germany (it is just 20 minutes drive from Strasbourg).

After visiting the Wurth museum, we stopped by this restaurant because of the good reviews from other travellers, otherwise we probably would not have noticed it: it's a bit out of the way and from the outside it's nothing special. However, I must admit that we have not been disappointed at all by the food, which was really good (I particularly liked the fried polenta with my scallops, which is a rather unusual choice in France). The service is also very friendly and efficient - we appreciated to be warned that the chocolate fondant would take 15 minutes (freshly made! go for it if you like chocolate, or for the fruit salad if you prefer something lighter for the diet, the lemon cake on the other hand was nice but the biscuit was a bit hard). Special thanks to the cook, who knows how to convey his enthusiasm for cooking!
