We stayed in the tiny village of Caveirac for 2 weeks and ended up eating at Le Chaverdille several times for both lunch and dinner. It's the only restaurant in town - but it could not have been more delightful. The food is delicious, seasonal and imaginative, with many internationally-influenced dishes (e.g. seared tuna with a Japanese ponzu sauce, Moroccan-style quail pastilla) along with more traditional French cuisine. The menu is not extensive but it changes on a daily basis and everything we had was freshly and expertly prepared. The service, too, was invariably friendly and attentive, from the host to the waitstaff. Our server was extremely knowledgeable about the food preparation and about recommended wine pairings. What really makes Chaverdille special - besides the delicious food - is the delightful atmosphere. The interior area is comfortable with original artwork on the walls and views toward the courtyard, but the courtyard itself is magical. On one side is an ivy-covered chateau wall; there are Japanese-style lanterns strung across the seating area; whimsical artwork is scattered throughout; and the tables are simply but elegantly set with single fresh flowers. A back area of the courtyard includes a couple of sofas and lounge chairs, perfect for a drink or more private / casual meal. As we were travelling with our 3 sons (11 years old and 4-year-old twins), we especially appreciated the family-friendly nature of Chaverdille. It isn't always easy to find a restaurant in France with good atmosphere and sophisticated food that is also so accommodating to younger children. Chaverdille always offered a menu enfant, and when we arrived early enough that the restaurant wasn't crowded, the back area of the courtyard was an ideal place for our younger boys to play without disturbing anyone while waiting for their food. It's also sophisticated and charming enough for a romantic couples' dinner or an evening out for a group of adults. Note - as of summer 2015, Chaverdille was only open for dinner Thur-Fri-Sat nights, and open for lunch every day except Sunday & Monday. Our only complaint is that it isn't open more often! If you find yourself in or near Caveirac, it's well worth a visit. Reservations recommended.

We took dinner here twice in large groups, one prebooked and one without. The latter on a Sunday when options are more limited. Have the Bathilda local white wine, fantastic and great value. Itâs a short Italian menu, changing slightly each day but the creamy pasta with sausage finished with truffle oil is regularly in offer and for good reason. Beyond that the food is less reliable but itâs great value and all served in a relaxed environment. Their tolerance, and management, of our groups was impressive. As a couple dining here I wonder if Iâd want more from the experience.

Although we arrived towards end of service on market day (Saturday) we were warmly welcomed. Good service, very good food and although end of lunchtime we were not hurried in any way. The Merlu was excellent and well presented and the accompanying Rose was very good.

Visited this restaurant with family and 10 month old grandchild .Staff very welcoming and supplied high chair for infant ,have had some issues with availability at many restaurants whilst on holiday .Tapas really nice and well presented ,wine lovely and good price .enjoyed meal and although we sat outside the inside space was very nice too .The only issue we found in nearly all restaurants in France was no baby changing facilities ,come on France sort this ,just a table folded down from wall is all that is needed ,had to change baby on bathroom floor .Would definitely visit again .

On a recent visit to Sommeries, we wanted to sample some traditional Crepes, and this restaurant was recommended to us by another family who had stayed in the area previously. It is in a lovely spot over the bridge by the river, we all enjoyed our meals, service was fast and friendly, really liked the interesting decor, we will be back.

We booked in advance - just as well, it filled up quickly with French diners (probably local). The food was simply delicious. We chose from the menu du jour (starters of rabbit terrine, asparagus charlotte), and then sea bass beautifully cooked, with a selection of vegetables e.g. small stack of roast tomato/courgette slices. We felt the desserts, (panna cotta, Paris-Brest) though good, were not quite as outstanding, but we prefer savoury anyway. Having read reviews we had deliberately saved this restaurant for our last meal in Sommieres, and if we had sampled it earlier it would have been hard to resist eating there every day! The service was faultless, despite our ham-fisted French, and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. When we revisit this lovely little town Lou Caleou will be the first place we go!

Whilst staying at Jasses de Camargue, I was recommended to visit LaCroq au Del and was delighted I did. We all had the menu of the day which was explained to us in English as our French was not up to scratch.Fab steak and tuna for main and a choice of deserts, house wine and coffee and our bill came to â¬61.My only regret is that we left it to our last night to visit, but will definitely visit when back in France next year.
