Amazing set menu at a very convenient price. The dishes were very generous, but even more delicious. Don't miss the courtesy garlic soup, surprising and delicious also for garlic haters like me. The 5 course meal is absolutely pantagruelic, but you can't avoid taste (and eat) all courses. After all of it a big walk is needed! Service very nice and attentive. A very well run family business, congrats! Undoubtly, one of the best meals we had in the region and even in France.

One of the joys of visiting France is small restaurants serving extraordinary food. L'Esperence is one of these that surprised and delighted our group of 4. From a beautiful collection of amuse-bouche to open, to appetizers and main courses that ranged from pigeon to foie gras to fish to beef, every course was beautifully presented, perfectly put together, and delicious. With some unfortunate dietary restrictions (dairy and gluten), eating in France can be frustrating when serving and cooking staff promise accommodations but then forget. The chef got everything right, and it was our best meal of the month we had in France. Highly recommended.

Five of us had a wonderful meal at Le Bistrot d'Epicure. It was busy on the Saturday night and glad we had booked. The service was outstanding from beginning to end, and each dish was of the highest calibre, beautifully cooked and presented. They were also more than willing to cook steak for one of us very well done yet the quality of the meat was so good it lost none of its moisture, tenderness and taste. If in the Dordogne region I would strongly recommend having a meal here.

We found this very special restaurant off the beaten track, by searching nearby places to our holiday gite in Fontenille. I loved the idea that itâs a select set menu of 3 options for starter, main and puds but especially loved the idea of a veggie option on each too - a rarity in France and very welcome to a vegetarian as I often struggle in France. Each dish has a main, fish and veggie choice - perfect for all - and with a less extensive choice each dish is crafted to order with great care and attention. The chef is clearly passionate about sourcing local seasonal food and highly talented and the menu changes regularly accordingly. Everything is cooked to perfection and beautifully presented and brought to you by the charming and very helpful tri-lingual front of house who couldnât be more helpful and is a great character and asset, that makes the restaurant even more special. He is so welcoming from the minute you book and has a brilliant sense of humour. We sat outside in a lovely peaceful setting watching the swallows in the walnut trees opposite on this pretty tranquil road opposite the Mairie. My vegetable filo tart was stunning, full of flavour as was the wild mushroom risotto and the chocolate pud with melting middle was light and of perfect consistency, vanished before he had a chance to even ask if we were enjoying it!! Our favourite meal in the Dordogne so far - a high accolade for a foodie region! The price is very reasonable for such quality cooking too. Book if you can as they are deservedly popular!

A nice place to eat, have some drinks, where you can also rent rooms.
We decided to pop in for something to eat to save us cooking, on a dreary winters evening we got a great reception and amazing food. I would highly recommend this bar/restaurant to go to on any occasion. We booked our daughters birthday here and the manager could not have been more helpful. I think we will make this our local place to eat. Really impressed great quality great value and great service.

At the heart of the village, facing the 15th century covered market-place, an ideal setting to discover JB's traditional cooking. Sit on the shaded terrace and relax with a fresh fruit juice, a French pancake, a home-made ice-cream or patisserie
We booked this restaurant on 2nd August 2018 for a group of friends for 9th August. They took the booking, our name and telephone number - all our party live with 10km radius. We arrived at 19.00 no table, they apologised, said they would sort it ? Waited until a19.15 to sit -food arrived at 20.30 local performance of Shakespeare was at 20.30 which was why we booked for 19.00 which we missed at 20 euros per person per ticket !!! Absolutely no apology no suggestion that it was their fault, they even threatened to call police when we asked for compensation, în fact said it was our fault because we are english ??? and they also said they didnât care as they get plenty of visitors !!!! Lovely customer service !!! we have lived here for more than10 years and have no issue in communicating in French!! We own 7 gites welcome more than 30 guest per week through June - August as do our friends and will spread the word that restaurant is not recommended

A beautiful vine covered patio, great service by Sofia. Elegant, friendly, unpretentious. Many options for menu choices; a contemporary twist on traditional fare, every course was delightful and surprising. Loved the lemon meringue tarte at mealâs end, and the cocktail of the Maison.

Judging by the proportions of reports on here, this little restaurant is not well known to the non-French. We asked at the tourist office and they recommended this small restaurant (seats 20 max), around the back of their premises. In a sunny and quiet little courtyard a minute's walk from the Place des Armes (market square), the owner Roch has created an informal lunch venue with simple and limited menus offering freshly prepared dishes using seasonal produce. We had asparagus and salad/tuna and cous cous with salad, to start, then the duck tourtiere as a main course. Desserts were exquisite cakes, one dark chocolate (so rich!) and the other, Grandma's nut cake, with what seemed like 110% nuts! Both beautifully crafted! The three course menu was â¬20; with 50cl of excellent rose wine and coffee the bill was a tad over â¬50 for two, not expensive for a memorable experience! Don't miss it! Hours not as above. It's open for lunch in season every day except Sunday according to the current business card. I'd say it's advisable to book in high season.

A great option in Belves. We met a friend who lives locally and suggested it: really hit the right notes. We all had the menu du jour which was four courses. Weâd reserved a table even though it was mid-January and mid-week: good thing! Clearly a fave with locals and having a reservation meant we had a great table. Staff are lovely, very welcoming and seem in high spirits all the time. Our lunch was a very tasty onion soup, a creamy crudités dish served in a glass, a main if parsley potatoes and one of the most moist roast chicken breasts Iâve ever had, dessert options were plentiful - all three of us chose differently and all were excellent! With a litre of good House wine our bill for three was just over â¬50. Excellent value.
