Positioned right on the Garronne canal it is a beautiful setting on a hot June evening. The restaurant has moorings, water and electricity and we moored up one evening a party of 8. We literally steped off the boat and into the restaurant. Its a little remote but was quickly filled so obviously very popular and rightly so. The food was excellent and the service spot on the owner had a very dry sence of humour delivered in perfecr Franglaise which greatly added to our enjoyment. A wonderful meal in a beautiful setting at a reasonable price, and just when we thought it could get no better we were presented with French bread for our enjoyment the next day. An absolute must if you are on the canal and looking for a spot to moor up and enjoy an evening meal but do book.

We've visited here many times and every meal has been great! The food is consistently good and so fresh! David is a great chef and Sylvie is the most wonderful host, always welcoming you and ready with a smile. Fully recommended and parfait!! A firm favourite with us and all our family and friends. We'll certainly be back!

We decided to come here on a Friday night as there would be music.. Book a table!! We were two, and got the last table. The outside terrace filled up quite quick. And the staff were curious and accommodating though we had not booked.Food and service were great for being in the country. Lovely and simple selection. The tapas starter was better than expected .The band delivered, playing blues and rock all evening! Will come back next time I visit Lot et Garron!
We were staying with friends close-by near Bourran and called here for evening dinner. As the title suggests, everything was great, with a lovely setting sat outside near the chateau under a large umbrella in the evening sunshine.Typically relaxing here in France, the four of us enjoyed a three course meal with wine for under 80 euros.. Foie gras for starters - I had emince volaille(cream chicken with mushrooms and sauce) and my partner had piccata milanese(veal) for mains followed by strawberry mousse for dessert. Wine was a bottle of Chateau Lagrange 2010 at a very realistic price. Patricia who owns the chateau was our host, taking multi-tasking to a whole new level and spent time chatting to us after the meal as well. Everything considered, this was the highlight of our week in France and La Taverne de Lacaze comes highly recommended. A must visit.

We've been coming here on and off when in the region for 6 years and never had a bad meal, on the contrary our experiences here have been consistently delightful. While the menu du jour has only 1 choice there's this is not uncommon in France and there's an excellent a la carte menu if you don't want the daily special - both are tempting. The wine list has something for most tastes and budgets and service has always been polite, friendly and helpful with special requests. My wife had the steak tartare which she chose to compose herself and came with all the ingredients and which she found excellent and no stomach problems! Two of us had the menu du jour a tasty piece of beef probably bavette that was tender, well prepared and tasty. It's worth a word here about the fries.....our experience of fries in France is not that good - all too often the wrong potatoes are used and the oi not hot enough resulting in somewhat greasy chips....NOT SO HERE ! These are as good as you'll find any where whether double fried or not - perfectly crisp outside, soft and fluffy inside and not at all greasy - perfect! Over all our meal for 4 including 2 menus du jour and 2 a la carte with apero's, wine, dessert and coffees came to 112 euros or 28 each - I'd say that's pretty good value. We'll be back for sure. Merci Thierry and Katharina.

Normally when you get great food, you often have small portions, but this is an exception here. Incredible food. Starters were larger than normal, main was a good size and the desert was large enough to leave me completely stuffed. All courses were fantastic, thoroughly recommended.

We've been coming to this 'locals' favourite for 6 years now, dining both at lunch and dinner. More recently twice in the past month and there's a common theme - consistency. The food quality and price are hard to beat, service is prompt and courteous and Sylvan's dessert trolly is fast becoming legendary, with more choices than you can imagine so be sure to leave room for dessert. Menus start at 15.90 for four courses and go up from there, portions are generous so come hungry. The wine list is modest especially the white wines but there's something for most tastes and all budgets. Little wonder people keep coming back.

A lovely restaurant whose outside seating area includes a long fishtank full of ornamental carp. The very helpful maitre dâ upon observing the childrensâ interest provided them with a saucer of fish food! Feeding frenzy not exactly mirrored by our more leisurely enjoyment of delicious steak, duck, skate wings and cuttlefish. Preceded by âamuse-boucheâ gratuit. We were taken through the menu so we understood what everything was. Desserts up to the usual standard, and the usual excellent inexpensive local wine. A good time was had by all.
