We went there after visiting the glacier and beach for early dinner. Kids had pizza and burger, adults partly too plus NZ greenlip mussels. The dishes ordered were OK, nothing spectacular but all looked and tasted very good. Together with beer for the adults, was quite nice sitting on the Terrace outside.
All in all good value for the services received

A children’s menu is available and we endeavour to meet special dietary requirements upon request. The restaurant offers indoor and outdoor dining and during the cooler months visitors can relax and unwind by the cosy open fire. The saloon is full of local history, a comfortable place for visitors to the West Coast region to catch up with the locals and perhaps hear a few good old stories from days gone by!
We only had a couple of cappuccinos here but enjoyed them and watching the helicopters and people running around.

Our friendly and helpful staff will tempt you with the delicious breakfast or lunch menus. Our scrumptious homemade baking is made fresh on the premises everyday, and the delicatessen style food is perfect for a casual lunch, or food on the run. Meals can be made to order if you need to take away, or if you have a little more time to savour the flavour, enjoy in our cosy café either inside, or outside and lap up the sun. We are licensed too, so enjoy a beer or a glass of wine at the café with your meal. We also offer vegetarian meal options if you prefer. Groups are most welcome but advance notice is appreciated. Wifi is available with any Hobnail Cafe purchase, so if you want to catch up on messages and emails or upload photos from your Fox Glacier experience, then this is the perfect opportunity. The Hobnail Café is open from 7.30am daily.
My wife and I had breakfast here before a glacier tour which was very convenient. You order at a counter, are given a number and have your food delivered to your table. Breakfast tip: we split a “Kiwi breakfast” that included two eggs, bacon, sausage, toast and potatoes and each had plenty to eat. Highly recommended.

Enjoy unsurpassed views of Mt Cook and Mt Tasman whilst dining at our contemporary style café at the entrance to the Lake Matheson Walkway. Open 7 days from 8am for breakfast, brunch and lunch, and open for dinner in peak summer season. Comfortable indoor Seating and expansive deck area. Adjacent to the cafe is the ReflectioNZ Gifts and Gallery offering a range of high quality Kiwiana products, clothing and souvenirs. Lake Matheson is one of New Zealand's most scenic icons. Situated on the West Coast of the South Island, in the heart of Glacier Country and Westland National Park, the Lake Matheson walk is a must do attraction for all visitors to Fox Glacier & Franz Josef Glacier. 'Picture Perfect' reflections of New Zealand's highest peaks Mt Cook & Mt Tasman can be captured in the dark waters of this ancient lake formed by the retreat of the Fox Glacier. A trip to Lake Matheson is simply not complete without a visit to Matheson Cafe and ReflectioNZ Gifts and Gallery.
It was pouring rain and the Mountains were missing but I understand that the view here is stunning. The steak and lamb dishes we ate were deliciousl. I would have given it 5 stars except I have been eating some of the best food of my life in New Zealand. It is amazing that food this good can come out of a kitchen in such a remote location. Highly recommend! We returned to hike around Lake Matheson in the morning. Do it if you can!

Surprisingly there's quite a lot of choice in small Fox Village. But The Last Kitchen is for sure the best option in town and you probably will have to reserve a table.
The service is very friendly and attentive.
Even if the weather was on the cold side we had a few drinks on the Terrace before dinner. My husband chose the crispy pork belly which was very tasty, meaty and not too fatty. I had the duck which was very well cooked and delicious. All the dishes seem to have a Indian twist and good it is.

Despite the dreadful big foot sculpture out front, we gave it a go. Chicken wings were too big with strong Indian flavour. Prawns deep fried - fair. Meat Lover pizza failed to hit the mark. All in all a very ordinary dinner. Only highlight was the waitress (Kylie??) who was lovely

We had the butter chicken and garlic naan, which turned out to be totally non-spicy and sweet. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't spicy. After a couple of minutes into our meal, the staff asked how was the food and we told him that the food was alright, though we expected it to be a little spicier. He then said we should have informed him during our order. I was a little piffed as I thought shouldn't THEY have asked if we like it spicy, etc?
There was also a handwritten sign pasted on their wall "Please do not request for free of cost items" which left myself, and a couple of guests confused. The staff explained to not ask for free onions or water. Was a tad bit put off by it.
