When the majority of Duval County communities consolidated with Jacksonville in 1968, Neptune Beach, along with Jacksonville Beach, Atlantic Beach and Baldwin remained quasi-independent. Like those other towns, it maintains its own municipal government but its residents vote in the Jacksonville mayoral election and are represented on the Jacksonville city council. The population was 7,037 at the 2010 census. Neptune Beach is part of the Jacksonville Beaches community.

We had 3 great subs - the 3 top sellers. This location was rated extremely well by other TripAdvisors, and the rating was well deserved. Wait staff was pleasant and helpful.

I have a standing policy of avoiding all Firehouse Subs simply because one of the Company's Senior Officers, while also a Jacksonville City Councilman, voted to cut benefits from the Fire Dept. But this past Friday I broke my own rule with a spur of the moment decision and stopped in the Neptune Beach location on my way to work. I work for the Fire Dept. I was in uniform. The staff was friendly. The restaurant looked clean. My order came correctly in a timely manner. I ordered a Hero. It wasn't bad. It wasn't amazing. It was just a sandwich that most any other sandwich place could make. I went on about my day regretting that I broke my rule on eating at Firehouse. But the whole ordeal was in no way worthy enough to write a review about. The thing that inspired me to take the time to write this happened the following day. I was again on my way to work, in my Fire Dept Uniform, and needed to pick myself up something for lunch. I figured another sub would be enough food to be my lunch AND dinner. This time I stopped into the Larry's Subs at corner of 3rd st. and 6th ave N in Jax Beach. The quality of everything was exactly the same as Firehouse was. But when I paid for my order, the young female cashier told me Fire Dept gets a 20% discount, and she thanked me for my service.It wasn't much, but it was all it took to make Larry's my Sub Shop of choice.

Not sure which we come here for the most, their fantastic peanut butter pie or their great sandwiches. The choice of sandwiches id huge and varied and all of them look/taste delicious. Our favorites are the build a hero ( double ham and swiss) and the croissant cordon blu with extra turkey. If we are feeling decadent like we were today, we'll split a piece of the buy which is so good and rich I recommend that is what you should do. Service was very good.Thank you so much for the kind words and the great review! We hope to see you again soon. Cheers!

Subway sandwiches are great value, us Brits are not used to having to decide between several different breads, half a dozen different cheeses etc etc, but great value and very tasty.
