La Bamba II Mexican and Spanish Restaurant serves good Mexican food with lunch specials under $10.00. The restaurant is located in strip mall, and has classic Mexican restaurant décor with high tables, regular tables, booths and a bar. One of us and family members had a late lunch here on a Monday around 1:30 PM. We were seated and provided drinks quickly. Our server was friendly and helpful. One of our family members is a local and has been coming here for many years. The chips and salsa were very good. They furnish two kinds of salsa and the hot salsa has a bit of a kick (always appreciated). Among the lunch specials we ordered were a Beef Taco with Rice and Beans, and a Cheese Quesadilla (photos are attached). The portions were very large and the meals were both tasty. Coming from the Southwest, we are spoiled when it comes to imaginative Mexican cooking hence our 4 out of 5 rating for this establishment – very good but not excellent. The restaurant was quiet after the main lunch hour so we had no problems conversing. We also had nice seats by a large window and appreciated the sunlight. Bottom line, if you are looking for a good affordable Mexican meal in Margate, La Bamba is worth a try. This is a small Mexican restaurant that provides very good food, good service and a friendly atmosphere. We've been there twice in the last few weeks and had a positive experience both times. The place seats about 50 people in total, including 2 outdoor tables. The decor is fairly basic but the food is very good and the staff is good and friendly to the customers. Most recently, we had Molcajete - grilled chicken, grilled pork, cactus slices and other vegetables, all topped with cheese and served in a bowl that looks like it was carved from a volcano. Delicious !!The Pollo Rellano is also very good - chicken breast stuffed with ham, bacon and cheese and served with chipotle sauce. The prices are moderate and, given the volume of food served, a real bargain. We'll be back.

Rubio's Coastal Grill

Craving fish tacos only and asked a Co-worker for suggestions since the nearby Lime had closed down. She told me that this place had opened up in Lime's old location and was better. She wasn't kidding. While half the menu is seafood, there are chicken and meat options available. Ordered a seafood trio which included a Mahi Mahi taco (Florida only option. Forgot what they use in other locations) which was the best of the three. Got mine blackened (grilled is the other option) and it came with a wonderful creamy chipotle sauce, grilled corn and cabbage. Didn't have that very spicey flavor you sometimes get with blackened but the flavors and textures were great and worked very well together. The grilled shrimp taco had salsa verde, cilantro and cabbage. The shrimp had good flavor as did everything else. Finally thier original fish taco while being the worse of the three was good. Probably the best fried battered pollack I have had.
