This is a charming little place in the midst of Mt. Dora. Definitely not a chain or some 'new & trendy' place. As a bit of a breakfast snob, I actually appreciated the little wait we had; meaning, there was good reason. Our breakfast was fresh, hot, more-than-ample and a great value. Service was very friendly and attentive. Too bad we don't live closer, yet the next time in Mt. Dora we will make it a point of revisiting.

I was pleasantly surprised to experience this little diner-type restaurant. Food was plentiful and tasty! Service was good, though a little slow. Very much a family establishment! Inexpensive, too.

A sign of our Economy when a well-known American Chain closes restaurants during any natural disaster. Such was NOT the case at the Mount Dora location of Waffle House Friday, as 'Hurricane Matthew' skirted our area. I read Waffle House, did just that and closed 25 locations today and I hope it's not a 'sign of the times'. We ALL have had to make our 'adjustments' during this last Recession to survive. WH definitely serves a purpose as a quick, easy breakfast place for the weary, highway 'road rats'... travelers, truckers, and the salesmen of this great Nation. Many old faces, for breakfast here in Mt. Dora, were closed for the storm, either for lack of power or safety but, there was the familiar bright yellow marque with a parking lot filled with cars and booths filled with patrons. This eatery- 'Is What It Is'-. A normally, reasonably priced, roadside Diner known for it's waffles, usually located near a main highway, with fresh, hot coffee and a menu filled with 'specials'. The patrons are usually not upper crust so, despite the fact you may not smoke, you can pretty much inhale a fresh cigarette from the breath of the fellow sitting next to you. Nothing had changed since my last visit except "Kiki" ( server) was not present to aggravate/ rattle the chains of her fellow workers. I still respect the fact the staff shouts out "welcome to waffle house" when you enter, and the menus the same (probably 'cause it works for them) though the prices keep going up.... No matter what , its just average food for the average guy or gal. 2 Breakfast Specials with eggs, bacon, grits, toast and a waffle, + 1 coffee and one juice came to $24 + tip. So, if you're old, once you adjust from 5c a cup coffee and a $2.99 breakfast- you realize, this was not a cheap breakfast and...'Nothing Lasts Forever'
