Visiting with a client in Hallandale - we decided to meet at Flashback Diner on Federal Highway. Just north of the Dade/Broward line, they're located on the west side of the street. I'd eaten already so it was just a bowl of Matzo Ball soup and cookies - to go - for me. Water as my beverage. Service was friendly and polite. Our server was training new staff - they visited the table several times inquiring where everything was okay. Other servers stopped as well. My wife and I visited this Five Guys location in mid-March 2016, and the restaurant seemed to have been opened only a short time before. It is located on the third level of Aventura Mall. Since the mall, shockingly, has no food court, a lot of people choose Five Guys for a simple meal. If you like hamburgers, you are likely to find the food outstanding, as we did. Unfortunately, the seating is very limited. There are 13 tables directly in front of the Five Guys restaurant, but the restaurant designer foolishly chose to make all of them 4-seaters. As a result, you have the situation where 30 or 40 people are looking for a seat, but there are some 4-seat tables where a couple is seated, and the couple places their shopping bags on the two unused seats. Many people are standing around waiting until a table becomes free. Five Guys should replace all of the 4-seat tables with 2-seaters. If a party of four arrives, they can shove two tables together. Otherwise, the tables can be left as 2-seaters. This would be a much more efficient approach to customer service.

3. Bourbon Steak Miami by Michael Mina

This is the Miami outpost of Michael Mina's steak restaurant. Honestly, there is nothing about this restaurant that distinguishes itself from any other high end steak restaurant. That said, the skirt steak was tasty and well prepared, the side dishes were also good and there was a good selection of deserts. It was convenient to eat here as the restaurant is in the JW Merriott Hotel at Turnberry which is where I was staying.
