Our guidebook recommended this place for good Mexican fare. It was on a quiet little dead end street and is very unassuming. The free chips and salsa provided to you when you sit down were very authentic and quite tasty. The enchiladas were excellent and the tacos were good (great shells but lacking a little on the contents other than the meat). The price blows you away as we both ate dinner for a total of $10 ( without drinks). We would like to go back to try out more of their menu.
My husband and I went to breakfast there this morning. We had driven by so many times but never stopped just because if the way it looked and the location. Wow was I wrong for doing that. It is really a quaint little place with nice people and good food. Had a bacon omelet sandwich which was very fresh. The colada was great!! I plan on going back to try other things on the menu... Can't wait to have the mofongo.

I feel it is my moral imperative to pan this establishment. I went there in a state of extreme hunger. It took one hour for our food to arrive, because the waitress was leaving her shift and somehow the fact that we even existed was viewed as a matter of no concern. Finally I complained and nothing happened. As we were just standing up to leave, the food arrived, and it was cold. I believe the owner of the restaurant was now the server. I told him in bad spanish (he spoke no English) that the long wait was ridiculous. He didn't offer to give us a free drink or anything...he just shrugged.. The food was just OK and was sloppily plated and the place felt dirty and run down.Go elsewhere--you're not missing a thing.I didn't leave a tip, and I've never done that before, anywhere.

Arrived at 5:30pm on Saturday night. No wait for a table, seated right away. Nice family place filled with what appeared to be El Salvadore expats. Menu in Spanish with English translation at the bottom of each entry. I ordered the Plato Tipico, which included some very good plantains, a large sausage patty, rice, and steak. All cooked fresh and very tasty. The homemade hot sauce was delicious. The serving size was generous. Recommended.

It is a small place with limited indoor seating but a big drive-thru business. Prices were reasonable and the place was packed (a good sign). I really wanted to like the food but I found it bland, especially for "authentic" Mexican. My beef tacos and cheese quesadilla were average at best. The beef just did not have any flavor. Other people seemed to enjoy the food - I wouldn't go back.

Don't expect anything fancy (although there are pretty hanging Mexican star lights) because the atmosphere qualifies this place as a dive. However, the food is very good and reasonably priced. They start you off with a complimentary basket of tortilla chips with a fresh tomato and cilantro dip. I had the shrimp in salsa de mariscos which was more fishy than crustacean-y but it was still tasty. The flan is okay but it's pre-packaged and not homemade so I'd opt for the fried ice cream which is huge and easily shared.

La Cruzada, located in a quaint little part of Homestead, FL, serves authentic, fresh-made Mexican foods. The ambiance (Indoors or patio Outdoors) is very casual, and there's plenty of free parking (adjacent parking lot, or plenty of street spots). A visit to La Cruzada is like a pleasant visit to another country i.e. Mexico. The service is pleasant, and on a recent Saturday night La Cruzada was crowded w/ local families. The food is simple, and the prices inexpensive. We tried:house margaritas - tart, simple, goodModelo beer - paired-well w/ spicy Mexican foodGuacamole & chips - MUST TRY!! Fresh-made -- this was the best single food item that we triedFajitas - fresh, tasty, and served on a hot skillet (chicken, beef, shrimp, or a mixture)Steak Burrito (Carne Asada) very tasty; a hearty meal in itselfCheese enchiladas - good (not great)Taco (marinated gyro pork) - fairSide dishes of rice, beans, lettuce - fairAll-in-all, La Cruzada is worth-a-visit to sample authentic Mexican foods (guacamole, chips, tacos, fajitas, burritos, lots of vegetarian choices, beers, margaritas, etc) in a setting with an authentic Mexican vibe. Whether visiting the Everglades, on-the-way to The Florida Keys, or looking for an excursion away from Miami, you'll enjoy La Cruzada.

While in the area on business, a few coworkers and I came to this restaurant for dinner. The entire staff was extremely friendly and courteous and the restaurant provided a great atmosphere. The food was served hot, fresh, delicious, and in a huge portion. If youâre ever in the area, I highly recommend giving this place a try.

We received great service in the outside seating section in early March 2019 by a young lady who said she did not have good English but understood us well and delivered great service. The Cuban coffee with milk was very, very good, and both my husband and I liked what we had for supper (Pan Con Bistec and Elena Ruz). We recommend this if you're looking for a nice, inexpensive place to eat (total bill for everything above was $20.40).
