Small menu card but with great plates. This is a restaurant where you can eat self made vol au vent, or... nice self made french fries with a good steak, or... it is just great. It is strange they serve fresh salads having grated carrots, you do not need to serve carrots.Any way, I try to go there as much as I can and enjoy the friendly service and the fine food.

I came here for a small afternoon snack with my mom and found out they had delicious cakes and juices. My mom enjoyed her coffee and 'koekjestaart' very much, as was I with my cheesecake. How ever I would have liked it more to be more cheesecake instead of cheesecake together with a normal cake, it was different in either way. The place is very cosy and nice to spend some time with these dishes. Although I got a very big plate, which was very nice decorated with some fruit etc, I still think this place is very expensive. Smaak is persoonlijk....

New owners blowing a refreshing and carefull wind throughout this magnificent restaurant/taverne/bar. Situated in Diest historic beguinage, you are welcomed here for a careful drink on the splendid terrace in summer, but you can enjoy a romantic dinner with great, freshly prepared food ! Very friendly owners & staff, you feel véry welcomed from the very first minute ... You'll enjoy a most adorable evening/afternoon in Gasthof 1618, and no doubt, you'll soon return here ! Recomended for dinner: Lamb carroussel or the Stew prepared with the local Nonnekes-beer !

We entered the place on the beautiful square of Diest and had a first drink. This was accompanied by some snacks, which was a pleasant surprise. Staff was ok, nothing special. Little to no smiles. Up until then it seemed a good experience, as the terrace was quite cosy. But then it turned real bad. We waited and waited and waited, drank 2 drinks, went to the toilet a couple of time to kill time. We ended up waiting 1 hour 54 minutes between ordering and getting our food. I have never waited so long for food, especially considering the terrace was quite filled but not ultra busy. Also no guests inside to explain the very unpleasant waiting time. It has to be the lack of staff, because they ask for patience in their menu because they work with fresh products. This of course can't be a valid reason for this waiting term. The food itself was good, but not worth waiting for so long. I honestly would not recommend this place to other people as this was ridiculous. In case people just think our table (of just 4 people) had bad luck, I spoke with people from 2 other tables who also suffered the same problem, be it in a slightly shorter waiting time (1h30 and 1h 40). Until this restaurant get their waiting times reasonable, I would recommend nobody. PS: Two stars instead of 1 for the food

We are from Billings, Montana and our burger standard is impossibly high, but these guys make a good attempt and they are just starting out. Burgers are well-made, but not quite to order. The sweet potato fries were yummy. Burgers are deceptively simple. That means everything has to be done exceptionally well. These guys are not there yet, but we might have a lot to look forward to.

We had a great dinner here, both the stew (Stoofpotje) and the fish (Gepoft zeepotje) were great! Excellent service, very friendly. We'll be back!

We've had our wedding at Hof te Rhode. It is well known in the region for its great food and wonderful location. The service was perfect, everything was well organized by their team. The food was outstanding! Surely it's more expensive than your average restaurant, but it's well worth it!

Kiewithoeve is situated on the countryside directly opposite of a nature reserve in a former farm witch is nicely renovated. Kitchen is traditional European with some Thai specialties wich we can recommend. Best is to make reservation because place can be quiet busy on weekends and holidays. Service is swift and very friendly, food is value for money. There is also a small children playground on the terrain. Parking lot is very spacy so no problem with that even when place gets crowded

Dinner late thursday evening so place wasnt crowded. Seats are a bit packed. Service is excellent! Food was very good, perfectly served. Only thing to remark was that the self made fries werent perfectly cooked, the fat was a bit old i think . Very cozy place!

We were the very first to arrive at the restaurant, having reserved that didn't really matter... but I would advise it, since we arrived in the middle of the week and it was full house.Moving on they have an ever changing 4 options menu (â¬38 full menu), which unfortunately was still difficult to choose from ^^ they all seemed quite nice.I ordered an appetizer which arrived reasonably quickly and was lovely (home made shrimp croquettes)I am sorry to say that after that I became disappointed, it took just over an hour for our main course to arrive (remembering we were the first in the restaurant). This was just too long. Staff were friendly and going around, but I'm pretty sure there's a simple lack of staff if it takes this long for a main course to arrive. The entrecote itself was quite exquisite, same for the salad, yet the baked potatoes disappointed again, not being crispy at all with a lack of tasteOne of us still had room for dessert, alas this too took way too long to arrive for a lovely, yet small dame blanche.Overall the food was good, but we expected more from such a highly rated establishment and definitely within a more reasonable timeframe.
