Nice variety of dishes. They were set up and ready when our group began to arrive. We came in waves and service was consistently prompt and friendly. Food was generally good. I could have welcomed more fish on the tacos. Good prices and pleasant surroundings. They even put out real tablecloth and napkins just for us!

Family and romantic dining in a beautiful old downtown historical building. We are also an art gallery. Great for all kinds of meetings too.
Found this place by chance and glad I did. Had the ribeye steak (special) and it doesn't disappoint. Seasoned and cooked perfectly. Wife had lamb chops (another daily special) and they were perfect. Service was great! Yes it takes a while but if your in a hurry there is a Dairy Queen down the road. Great wine selection as well. Will definitely make a return trip!

This Dairy Queen has recently updated the entire facility. My kids loved the booths and the state of the art and technology drink machine. You pick your drink and can add extra flavor. I'm not sure how it works, but the cimbinations are extensive! The food was great and the workers were friendly. They have a display of the different sizes of drinks and ice cream available, which was very helpful. It was a pleasant atmosphere for our family to have lunch on the road.

This is a true gem just off I 10 in Flatonia. A group of 9 met for lunch at Robert's Steak House. We had reservations and when we arrived our table was set and ready. We asked about separate checks and they said no problem.
Food was good, I had the Hickory Chicken and mashed potatoes. Some in our group had the Chicken Fried Steak which they all liked but make sure you ask for extra gravy. I have had the burger and a salad in the past both good.
This is our group's second time here. We meet once a quarter midway between San Antonio and Houston. This is our first place we have returned to a restaurant for a second visit, and this time our group voted to make this our permanent spot.
Bathrooms are clean, staff is friendly and efficient, they have a full bar and a good variety on the menu, plus lunch specials.
Located on north side of I 10 about a quarter mile north just past the gas station on Texas 95.
Looking forward to our return.

We try to eat at the local non chain places when traveling. The billboard caught our eye and we pulled in. I must admit the ribs were quite tender but small. BBQ brisket was tasty but nothing special. The “Texas Toast” was a plain piece of plain Wonder Bread. I felt the food was a bit pricey. Folks at the counter were nice. Not a bad experience but not memorable.

Good Food, Good Drinks, Great Times. A wide selection of local fine wine and craft beer.
I love this place not too far off the I-10 Flatonia exit. I had a great chicken/avocado flatbread and a glass of wine. Wish I could have hung around for their crawfish boil later that day. They also have an excellent texas craft beer list. Great ambience created with the restoration of an old storefront.

Actually stopped at the Bar-b-q place next door but didn't like the dine in area so thought we would check out this place next door...nothing to look at in terms of decor/ambience (it was empty) & cheap table settings etc BUT I really loved my food! Everything made fresh daily...cheap prices & friendly young waitress...I had a beef taco ($3)with a soft tortilla with extras like lettuce tomato guacamole & sour cream inside & it was so yummy & tasty & filling! I had also ordered a chicken quesadilla but had to take it to go....would happily recommend stopping in here if you're on the road to/frm Houston to San Antonio & want something besides the usual Mcd's/Dairy Queens etc...very basic setting but good food...

Two couples on our way to tour the Spoetzl (Shiner Bock) Brewery in Shiner, Texas, stopped at the Cistern Country Store for lunch. The hamburgers are great. Burgers are cooked on the grill for your custom order. The cook, Natalie is extremely friendly and will share info about the area. The store has a dining table for lunch. There is a bar connected which has live music Friday and Saturday nights.
Note: the country store is located between the towns of Flatonia and Smithville.

Stopped by on advice of Flatonia Chamber of Commerce. Great suggestion. Food was excellent had the Cowboy omlette, which was excellent and reasonably priced. You must try their on-premise made corn tortillas, they are excellent. Service was superb.

This café is in our auction barn and is only open on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for lunch.
The owner is an awesome cook, the food is great. This is the reason you go out to eat. From tacos to chicken fried steak and all at good prices. Everyone that works here are locals and very nice people. I cant say enough about the food here and we go here a couple times a month for lunch.
