Reviews on French food in Limburg Province, Flanders, Belgium. Situated on the Dutch border, Limburg is the easternmost province in Flanders, and the foremost fruit-growing region in the country. The lively, friendly market town of Hasselt is the provincial capital. It boasts a car-free historic center, with building dating back as far as the 11th century. Genk is another recommended stop. The city of 63,000 people is home to a zoo, a planetarium, De Maten nature reserve and Bokrijk, an open-air museum of 19th century Flemish architecture.

My partner and I visited this beautiful venue as part of a L'Etoile package with the Kasteel TerWorm in Heerlen. We were picked up from the Kasteel (on a very rainy evening) by a very cheerful and enthusiastic taxi driver (or so we thought!).When we arrived, the chap pulled out a brolly to escort us into the restaurant where we were greeted by the very helpful and as expected, English speaking staff. To our surprise, when we sat down, the 'taxi driver' turned out to be one of the staff at the restaurant! He was an absolute star, a real 'character'!The owner of the restaurant came up to welcome us and we thought this was a very nice touch. The 'taxi driver' then came to explain the wine choices to accompany our meal. My goodness, fabulous food, fabulous wine, fabulous venue and excellent staff / service. Our taxi driver then turned out to be the 'Maître_fromager' and was extremely enthusiastic about the 'ridiculous' amount of cheeses on offer for the cheeseboard!A superb twist to the evening and we couldn't thank the staff or our surprise chauffeur for the evening. FANTASTIC.

As the only terraced castle in The Netherlands, Château Neercanne commands panoramic views across the Jeker Valley and straddles two countries â Belgium and The Netherlands. Renowned for its Restaurant Château Neercanne and popular lunch spot lâAuberge, i
Outside of the city of Maastricht is this beautiful castle. In the evening you are welcomed by a lot of candles lining the pathways to the castle nestled close to the marl caves. After an aperitive in the wine cellars, which I donât think is optimal for the wines, we had a menu in the restaurant. Good service and original with a lot of attention for the âmise en placeâ. Salmon with nori, garlic, quinoa and sambai started with a Japanese touch. Grouper in a Mediterranean way and duck with ras-el-hanout both followed before a chocolate delicacy completed the meal.Dear Maurits, Yes you can have a Conference meeting in a lot of unique locations but a ten minutes drive to our location and into another world is a chance you will find only in Maastricht. Thank you and bring your love of friend next time,Cornelis SchormansManager meetings & events sales

We had dinner in this lovely restaurant. Service is very friendly, polite and professional. Food was great, even sensational. Fresh ingredients, a magnificent presentation and combination of tasts. Wines were sublime. Dessert was home made dame blance, the best I ever had. Love to go back.

A 5 star culinary experience from beginning to end! From the warm reception and the excellent, personalized service and suggestions (accompanying wines etc.), Novo is an absolute gem of a restaurant. Each and every course was artistically presented, and the tastes blended in a harmony of flavors and essences reflecting that the Novo chefsâ exquisite creations are prepared and served with great reflection, savoir faire and passion. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

Stayed in this beautiful area with my wife to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We picked L'ApPetit from Tripadvisor recommendations and were not dissapointed. A very warm reception, beautiful 4 course dinner and great selection of wines, all at reasonable prices. Will definetely go there again!

"A light and cozy bistro serving gourmet, creative dishes that will surprise and inspire you. That's what I, Roland Philipsen, as an entrepreneur and chef have in mind"
Croquant is a cute small restaurant in a very quaint quarter of Maasticht; my partner and I had dinner at Croquant last weekend....this is a difficult review to write since although we enjoyed ourselves and like the concept of Croquant, the food was nothing more than OK, we were still hungry when we finished our meal, and thought that it was expensive. The specialty croquets and bitter balls were good (not extraordinary) and interesting in variety....shame that we could not find a mussel in the special of day mussel croquet. Our "main courses" were small plates (as correctly pointed out by our server) that were unsatisfying: my partner had the steak tartar which was good but the portion size was painfully small and my risotto was very average; thank goodness we ordered a portion of fries or we would have been starving. The deserts were nothing special. That being said, we had fun....the service was very nice (if a bit disorganized) and the atmosphere very pleasant. Will we return? Probably not - we have done it and need not return. The biggest problem is that we left hungry and ate nothing more than upgraded "frituur" food for over Euro. 100.00 for the two of us.

I was there with my girlfriend and another couple. We liked the simple and modern environment. Diffuse lights makes it also cosy. We explored basically all the menu, from aperitif, entrée, main dish to dessert. Quality of basic ingredients was excellent, cooking was perfect, amount and presentation very good. What I liked the most is an uncommon craft in structuring the tastes, which in my opinion makes dishes unique. Quite a few little ingredients in small quantities make each bite of the dish different than the next, as if you could make a little journey in the ideas of the chef. To be tried to better understand :-)

In the village of Champagne, star restaurant with modern decor, you will discover his contemporaries dishes prepared with care and passion. Enjoy the sunny days to have a good time on our terrace in a rural setting. You want to organize a banquet, a commu
Great food presented in the beautifully converted former forge. Marsha the proprietress is a delightfully welcoming and unstuffy hostess who makes you feel at home and helps translate the menu, and her partner Thomas is a talented chef. We went for the 4 course tasting menu. 3 tasty little amuses-bouches were followed by high quality dishes - a lovely plaice fillet served with fennel in orange and a mini seafood "soup", a fabulous asparagus dish built on a bed of beurre noisette, pigeon breast and leg in a lovely gin-based sauce, and to finish a delightful chocolate and coffee melange with lovage flavoured brittle. With aperitifs, wine, coffee and a rum (for myself) the bill came to â¬150, which is good value for such high quality food. If in this area do pay La Menuiserie a visit!!

Daily changing menu from chef Roel Sanders. Great food in a friendly and casual atmosphere. We are ready for you, Roel, Alison en Martijn team55 (fifty five)
It was our 34th wedding anniversary so wanted to go somewhere special. Restaurant 55 was just the place to go with Michelin endorsement. The chef was very enthusiastic and passionate about describing our dishes starting with an âamuseâ consisting of Shrimp foam in shells, soup in test tubes and stinging nettle bread! Then some frozen Gespachio that exploded in our mouths. All set the scene perfectly. Then a Mackerel dish and paprika followed by braised Beef with truffle, duck then summer fruits Yoghurt and ice-cream. Service throughout was personal. A perfect experience. Well done.

A visit to the Atelier is always again a surprising journey along tastefully presented dishes with inventive combinations of first class products, accompanied by a fine variety of wines or non-alcoholic fruitjuicessappen. A warm competent service supports you through this wonderful experience. Five stars are usually only reserved for the perfect experience and this was one of those !
