We like to eat in the best restaurants. Every week we lunch or dine out twice a week. So, we know many Portuguese restaurants. Tribeca is by far the best restaurant in central Portugal (from south Aveiro down to North of lisbon), considering inland and seaside areas. Because of all the love put into the service: the food, the way the staff compliments the clients, etc. Absolutely perfect!

We went for lunch without a reservation and were lucky. Ordered the mixed seafood platter for 4. Had excellent bread and wine while waiting for the dish. Could not believe how big it was when it arrived. Loaded with prawns, crab (2 types), mussels, oysters, langoustine, Portuguese sea snails, and barnacles. All four of us loved every bite. On top of that, the wait staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. One waiter even taught me the best way to get crab meat out of the shell by demonstrating with one of their crabs. It was a fantastic meal and after we paid the bill, he even gave two of us a small bottle of wine to go. Couldn't recommend more highly!

Brazilian style Picanha is the stand out for this restaurant. Mixed reviews of other dishes within our party mean that I cant give it the 5 the Picanha deserves, but awesome food, 3 medium sized steaks cooked beautifully, served on a hanging skewer.
Service was a little slow, but the restaurant was heaving with over 150 diners. When you come to choose the location for your holiday steak meal - this is a true blow out!!

Xakra is a beach bar which has evolved into a small restaurant, and is so popular (with local people as well as with tourists) that it will probably continue to expand. It is located by the beach, facing west, and so does enjoy beautiful sunset views.
It serves primarily fish and the food is of a very good quality. Three of us went with two Portuguese friends in September 2017 and all had excellent meals. I had the breaded cod, which was as good as I have eaten anywhere else. It is run by a local man and wife team and their service was excellent.
So, if you are in Peniche, give it a try. But it does get busy, so it might be best to book. One small word of caution, the restaurant is reached by using a boardwalk from the car parking area. After sunset, this boardwalk can get a bit slippy - so you need to be careful!

I went to this place twice in the same week just because the waiters were incredibly nice and friendly. They bring right away a couple of appetizers such as octopus salad, shrimp, olives bread and butter. However you may not want to eat a lot...MoreThank you for your comment. We decided to try this place one evening when we did not find another restaurant open. It was a very good decision as everything was spot on:
Pizza - amazing, super tasty and gourmet I could say
Wines - great selection and the house wine was really top quality
Atmosphere - super cosy and super friendly staff
We ended up returning for a 2nd evening here which is highly unusual for us as we love seafood and fish and we thought we would not eat anything else but these during our stay.
Truly loved it (and I am not a pizza fan) :)

We loved this little place which we found via TripAdvisor. Great menu, obviously fish at forefront, but excellent beef and tapas and heavenly desserts. Super cozy,informal atmosphere, just how we like it. Great friendly service. Excellent price/quality.
Sorry no fotos as we went to eat, and cameras and fones remained well hidden!

Stay in the countertop of the restaurant for me it's the best place to eat, sushi man Marco and Tomás Will take care of you!

Bar do Bruno is specialized in home made burgers, Special Focacia Sanduich, high quality snacks and salads, and home made soups. We use as much as possible local fresh products and local producers. From November untill end of May we are open from 9.00AM - 7.00PM. In January we close for holidays.

Close to the Baleal south beach you can find a nice and good beach restaurant. There you can find refreshments, hamburgers and salads, ice creams and a fine coffee. Not that expensive, specially if you come from the north of Europe. Rents, surf boards and suits!
