When Balthazar first opened, I worked within walking distance. Several years later, I was relieved that there would now be a longer distance between me and the bakery. But the memory of the buttery croissants, scones, and palmiers compels me back.
The key is to buy lots of stuff when you go. All of their items freeze remarkably well, even the delicate pastries. The breads are to die for, all of them, but especially the cranberry/pecan. Whatever is left of your baguette from the night before makes a delicious breakfast of toast (with real butter, preferably Irish, on top). And the staff is helpful and calm even in the face of an endless line of people asking questions about the ingredients.
Another piece of advice is not to focus on how much you just spent for treats and breads. It's worth it!

Probably eat in Amarone once or twice a month. Very consistent service, excellent menu and accommodating hosts (Nick and Nick). Kind of quiet, but nothing wrong with that.

Sometimes I'm just in the mood for Bennies, and no place else will do. I go immediately to the display case before I'm even seated to decide what I will have on my place: you can choose three of the side dishes for a great meal for $13. For an extra $3 you can add a chicken, lamb or kafta kebab or add tuna salmon or shrimp for $4. The amount of food you get for this price is ridiculous! Wraps and main courses are equally delicious and filling - the cous cous cassoulet is terrific. If you leave room for dessert, the baklava is delicious: even better, have it with the rich and flavorful arabic or mint tea. (If you need a proper wine for the meal, run across the street to Englewood Wine Merchants and you won't be disappointed). There is something on the menu for every dietary restriction: it's the perfect neighborhood restaurant.

They're famous for their crumb cake- and it may be the world's best.
We also love the Rainbow Cookies- they are also one of the best we've ever had!
Numerous other cookies & pastries we have had are excellent!
On the negative side we don't love the spice cake or the small hand-held fruit pies- but maybe we just don't care for these items in general.

During the summer season and again in the Fall we bought various ice cream flavors here. Even though the ice cream was quite good the "stone-cold" arrogant attitudes displayed toward us soured our appetites. Observing the impatience and anger of the employees when children changed their mind shocked me. If they hate their jobs that much why not hire new employees ? Moreover, the portions on an Ice Cream Sunday are too small given the high prices. Why are the tables unsanitary knowing that families bring children to sit down for cakes and sweets ? With so few tables available one expects cleanliness but even the floor was sticky. There are cleaner places in Bergen County serving fine homemade ice cream where customers are accorded greater respect. We'll return during Summer 2018 to see if there is any improvement.

Teaneck Road Hot Bagels provides the most outstanding bagel with phenomenal service. It is New York City quality coupled with New York City speed of service but with some of the nicest, most polite people you will ever meet. A perfect coupling of service with excellent bagels! Don't miss it.

Tried this restaurant again... Aleays busy... Was so noisy i got a headache... Big groups... Sound carried...no kebobs only entrees ... They recommended half rotisserie chicken and i thought was pretty basic but well prepared. No greek salad on menu only Horitiki salad.... Very pricy for small place with view of railroad tracks... I won't be returning ... There are lots better in neighboring towns and better priced!

Jackson Hole Burgers are family owned restaurants that opened their saloon doors in 1972. Born and raised in New York City our family run establishment have (arguably) been serving up the best burgers in the entire country. You can expect the best and finest ingredients...from our special blend of house-aged beef burgers to our mouth watering chicken "bronco" sandwiches. We buy fresh, make our dishes to order and that all reflects in the flavor of every meal, expect nothing less. All of our restaurants operate with an open kitchen, so come dine with us and watch your meal being prepared right in front of your eyes. You know you do things right when you serve some of Americas elite. President Clinton, Denzel Washington, Jennifer Aniston and Derek Jeter are just some of our celebrity costumers over the years. Join us for a memorable dining experience. We look forward to serving you.
If you are hungry, and looking to have a delicious hamburger, this is the place to go! We stopped here one day because we were passing through the area. The burgers are very large and well-cooked. We asked, and were told that they make their own hamburgers- these are not frozen patties. The buns, from a local bakery, are excellent. You also get cole slaw and a pickle...and we could not eat anything else...for a long time...we were too full!

We arrived at the restaurant and our glasses of water were immediately filled . We waited for the others in our party to arrive and drinks were served. The wine selection was excellent. Waiters were quick and efficient and provided exceptional service. The down side was that there was no free refills on the sodas and the restaurant refuses to serve ketchup even though steaks and chops are served, a very big negative in my gustatory experience. On the plus side the pasta is served Aldente' and the gravy (red sauce) is exceptionally good. Appetizers and main courses are varied and very good. The deserts are varied and I particularly liked the Italian Cheese Cake, reminded me of the old Pipi's in Jersey City. I would return, but steaks and chops will not be ordered by me without ketchup being available.
