This wasn't great when it was the Whitley Whaler and hasn't improved since. It's fine. In another town this would be good but with so many options this just can't cut the grade. Needs better fish or at least fried better

The couple who run this place are always friendly and welcoming. They usually cook everything to order so it's nice and fresh. Just occasionally the chips are not quite as fresh - but you can always ask before ordering! Portions are good without being wastefully ridiculous - we usually get a fish each and one chips between two healthy (read greedy) appetites. I recommend it.

Got take away fish cake and chips yesterday, it was dried out and inedible, must have been kept warm for hours. Batter on the fish cakes was tough and chewy. Disgusting, never again.

Monday night , not a busy night or not popular ??? Lovely looking exterior and nice dining area.The Calamari..... NO just No , straight from the freezer bag and deep-fried too long with oil not hot enough.Pork belly with black pudding was okay.... Very expensive for what is in total for 3 meals.Wonât be rushing back.

What a great find. lovely fish and chips in a beautifully restored building. We both went for the cod, and it was great. Service was excellent, and prices were reasonable. We will definitely return. Thanks again

Can't recommend this place enough for vegans, veggies and meat eaters alike. The vegan 'fish' is incredible and the chips are the best I've had from a chip shop in years. Worth a visit for everyone no matter what your dietary requirements. And the staff are lush!

We have been to 1910 previously, for both Sunday lunch and regular evening meals and generally havenât been able to find fault. Unfortunately today we felt the standards had slipped a little as the beef was very thin cut (as thin as you would get in a packet of sandwich beef from the supermarket!) and quite dry. In the past we have had lovely thick slices of pink, succulent beef but this was a far cry from that to be honest. The sides were still good, as was dessert. Also, someone in our party ordered the lamb confit and that looked better. Itâs not cheap at £22.50 for two courses. Sadly , I probably wonât go back on a Sunday unless I hear things have changed for the better.
