The High Field is at 22 Highfield Road, opposite Simpsonâs and less than 5 minutes from Five Ways. As well as serving quality fresh food in our restaurant and a range of drinks in the bar, The High Field has a spacious garden and two sunny terraces. There
Busy and noisy, this isn't the place for a quiet candle-lit dinner (not on a Saturday evening anyway). We were greeted immediately on entry as we walked towards what looked like the restaurant section of this large and busy pub. Seated immediately and water, menus and the specials list brought to the table. Good range of drinks - wine, beer and cocktails to suit everyone and the immediate offer to bring one of the many white wines to taste was a nice touch.3 courses of great quality, well presented and delicious food later we were stuffed. Everything was great with possibly the desserts being the best course, but it was all good. I have to say I preferred it to Simpsons (just over the road) and less than half the price.Wow thanks for such a lovely five star review Neil! I'll be sure to pass on your feedback to the rest of the team! See you again soon!- Charlotte

Booked for the first sitting on Friday evening (6-8pm) - service was speedy, staff were friendly and value for money was excellent! Had veggie samosa's to start and tried a curry I'd never had before, which is always a good experience and can be difficult to do sometimes (would recommend the vegetarian Tinda Sabji!) Added a side salad and a half a beer - came away very satisfied and all for under £15!Will just say it isn't super obvious that you order at the bar so my friend and I did sit for a good few minutes unsure if someone was going to come over..Overall would recommend and definitely would return!

Situated in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter on Warstone Lane; The Red Lion (UAB) is a traditional pub, rich in both local heritage and modern art. Regional runners-up in the Observer Food Awards 2013 - 2018 for Best Sunday Lunch, weâre proud to offer y
My husband & i must have ordered the last of the Sunday beef which was meagrely divided between us. As regulars we noticed an extreme difference to the usual. In fairness,on complaining, we were provided with sumptipus pieces of lamb but new customers would have just accepted the poor offering as the norm: unfair to them & giving them poor value for money along with the wrong impression of the establishment. Sunday roasts are advertised until 9 o'clock but we had the last beef dinners at 4.30 & by the time we left around 6, only pork belly remained: we observed potential customers walk out in disappointment.

It's nice to find a pub that's a bit more old English, rather than try-hard, light-wood trendy-modern. The interior decor is very well presented in the more traditional style, making it very warm & welcoming. There's a great selection of drinks on offer and some lovely down to earth food. All told, we had a great evening at the Old Contemptibles and will certainly go back.Hi MarkThanks for taking the time to leave a review. We take great pride in the pub we work in and glad you found us welcoming. We hope to see you again soon.Rob and the team

We had heard about the food here, but we arrived on a friday night slightly dubious in the surroundings... once inside it was a little raucous as you would expect on a Friday night, but then we went to the food area. It was very busy but we managed to get a table. The food was reasonably priced, but the best thing is how authentic it tasted. The staff were all lovely and efficient (they had to be to serve all the volume of customers!).Pleasantly surprised, will definitely visit again!
