Always go by your recommendations so when I entered best Sunday lunch and Orestone Manor came up I booked I was advised the time shiw on there site was incorrect and we were booked in at 12.15 lunch time I stated I was allergic to Black peppers he went away to the Chef then came back to us saying all of there Sunday roasts were drenched in pepper all night and the roast potatoes I have never come across this before as they were advertising the roasts Beef, pork Chicken you would have thought that one of the three would have been supplied without adding pepperes I had to end up with fish for Sunday lunch not what I wanted I think they should advertise that they add these allergic items so people are aware Graham Thurston the fish was very good and the serviceWe are please you enjoyed the fish and service. Our website does clearly state our dinning times . However as with all restaurants time slots do get booked up. It sounds to me 12.15 was the only time slot we had available when you booked. I see from your booking that you booked through open table ( a third party booking agent). If you had phoned us directly we would have asked if you had any dietary requirements. We would have been more than happy to accommodate your pepper allergy had we known. Unfortunately the nature of a roast is the preparation beforehand hence the inflexibility. The Orestone Manor does always try to accommodate all allergies but it is best that we know upon booking. We do hope we can welcome you back to The Orestone but please phone us directly next time.

Full English breakfast is very good quality and is tasty and hot. Coffee is fairly good quality. Buffet style continental breakfast is included in price. Extremely good value for money. This restaurant is housed in the royal beacon hotel in Exmouth. Exceptional value.

A small independent restaurant specialising in Mediterranean cuisine. Homecooked fresh food incorporating different styles and tastes from all over the med. Our menu will constantly develop and change to incorporate the freshest of produce and responding
First impression, needs a facelift! No ambience, starter nice, but struggled to fancy any mains . Ladies don't like chicken with all the bones intact Put me off! A lot of dishes with salad, but only one type of salad there is so much lovely salad available these days, Lacks imagination! Nice young man serving us, but lady looked scruffy!!!!Sorry.Wow! With so little words you manage to completely trash not only the restaurant, the menu, the food and also personally attack the manager! I, Mal, do not usually get involved in answering the reviews and leave it to Lisa as she has an incredible memory and remembers most tables and people that she looks after. However, as you got personal, I told her that I would like to respond. The main problem here is that you should have never even come into the restaurant. You stated that there was nothing on the menu that you would like for main course so why even come through the door? You can see what we have before you come and ask for a table? Baffles me! Maybe you are just 1 of those people who doesnât want to stand up for themselves, tell their friend/s that they are not really feeling the restaurant and menu so donât really want to dine there? Funny though that when you are at home and behind a computer you can be so forward, scathing, judgemental and direct! Different when you donât have to look people in the face and have a 2-way conversation with them! So, for your first point regarding the restaurant needing a facelift. We carried out a full refurb 14 months ago when we took over from a very tired Thai restaurant and have recently done touch ups and had the carpets cleaned. Being 2 independent business owners, we did not have 10s of thousands of pounds to spend ripping everything out and buying new so just had to work with what we had. We were going for a light, casual but rustic vibe with a nice relaxed environment and I really do believe (as do many of our customers) that we really have achieved this! No, we are not some large national company where money is no object and can get group of builders, designers and more important cash to do up the restaurant. Also, we didnât want the branded look where everything is so plain and boring and pretty much the same. We constantly get comments that the ambience is spot on and how nice it is not just hear tinny pop music or Ed Shearan in a restaurant. We are Mediterranean and thatâs the overall style of the restaurant from the look to the music to the food. We are different and are very proud to be so! Again, as you didnât even want to be here, you were always going to look for something to complain about as it obviously was not your fault that you were in a restaurant you didnât want to be in. The fact that you struggled to find even 1 of the 26 mains on the menus that you like is testament to this. âLadies donât like chicken with bones in!!!!!!!â Iâm sure a very busy multinational chicken restaurant chain would disagree with you on this! Canât say Iâve ever seen a woman in any of their restaurants or maybe when they are, the have the boneless banquet meal. REALLY! In fact, the reason 2 of our 26 mains are half roast chicken is that the flavour is so much better! The clue is in the title as you never get half roast chicken without bones in. We also make sure that we remove all the carriage and fine bones just leaving 1 bone in the leg, 1 in the breast to hold it together! Strange thing to order if you donât like bones. Just saying!Lots of dishes with salad??? Did you only read 1 side of the menu? The mains that come with salad are the flat bread pizzas (as a garnish), the grill boards (as you build your own folded flatbread so need salad), and our lasagne (as most people have flatbread for starters to have lasagne with more flatbread is a bit of overkill so we lighten it up with salad.) We donât even state what the salad is, only that it is seasonal so change the ingredients based on seasonality, availability and freshness. And if you actually look at the menu correctly, we also have a traditional Greek Horiatiki salad on the menu so again not sure what you are going on about with only 1 salad? The big kicker is that the menu lacks imagination!!!!! WHAT? What other restaurant has Cornish sardines, beef schwarma, paella, tagine, flatbread pizza, Moroccan lamb, souvlaki, scallops, vegan meatballs!!!! I mean come on!! No there is no gammon and eggs or pies but thatâs why we are so proud to be different. Lacks imagination?!?!?Nice young man serving you is a lovely local lad. The lady, the manager, not sure how you can ever call her scruffy? Again, we are a small business and Lisa needs to make sure not only does she look nice, but that what she wears is practical as she also need to do a lot of the serving / running etc. Black trousers, nice top, neckless, earrings, lipstick! Smart casual but practical. The young man wears jeans and trainers but this casual look still suits our restaurant. Lisa had done suits and double-breasted jackets with eppliettes and gloves BUT THIS IS NOT US! She looks great, friendly, smart but casual and approachable which is spot on. If you bother to look at any of our other reviews to will see many many compliments about Lisa and how professional she is! To be fair this comment is really offensive and you should think twice before you personally attack someone or at least have the decency or courage to do it to their face!!! Shame on you for using this platform for this. Lisa is one of the nicest people you will ever meet and unfortunately has taken this a bit to heart! No, she doesnât wear high heels, tonnes of make-up and false lashes because that just isnât her! All she wants is to make sure that each and every person coming through the door has the best experience possible! Itâs not just the rating or that you didnât enjoy our restaurant, itâs the scathing comments you made when someoneâs whole livelihood, reputation and passion is concerned. It would have been much more respectful to give the rating, say the menu and restaurant wasnât to your liking and leave it there! Maybe this review says much more about you than us! Sorry! NOT Sorry! Mal, OWNER

The service was great! We had a large-ish party and they took good care of us.The majority of the group had roast dinners, which everyone was very satisfied with. My steak was overcooked, but still decent. The fish and chips had more small bones in the fish then what Iâm normally used to, but this was still good too.Overall good experience.

I recently dined here and it was disappointing, I expected a lot more for the prices that I paid, I think its to pricey for exmouth. London is the place for this.Dear David CWe are of course disappointed to read that you dinned here and found it disappointing in relation to the cost. Michael Caines is a local born and bread Chef and Entrepreneur and he is proud to cook and live in the South West, it is we think great that people can dine in a luxury environment with food prepared by a Michelin starred chef without having to make the trip to London, we are very proud to represent the region.Thank you for taking the time to post a review on us.We hope to welcome you back one dayKindest Regards Scott Andrews

This was a second visit when staying with friends and we were not disappointed. Place itself is modern, comfortable and pleasant. Staff are helpful, efficient and friendly. Good menu with various options for veggie - waitress informed us where there was limited supply of particular items. I had delicious mushroom wellington - very tasty. Others in the group enjoyed their steak! Good choice of wine, nice bar where we had a drink after our dinner.

We are now closed until spring 2020. Thank you for your support throughout the year. See you in March.
This was our second visit to the Chronicle, we first visited last year. I booked our table two weeks before our holiday started to make sure we had a table as it is a very popular restuarant. We were not disappointed, the standard of food was as excellent as it was last year. My daughter and I had the roasted cod and our husbands had the scallops for our main course, we all had the warm smoked mackeral starter and the desserts were to die for. The Chronicle has a welcoming pleasant atmosphere and our host was lovely and friendly, the staff are attentive without being overbearing. We will be back, but not until next year I am afraid.
