Reviews on Bar food in York, England, United Kingdom. Just two hours north of London by rail, the city of York holds 1900 years' worth of history in its ancient walls. The Romans built the city in 71 AD, and the Vikings captured it in 866 AD. Stop by the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens for a look at what the Roman and Vikings left behind (they must have packed light when they left). From there, move on to the York Castle Museum for a not-so-quick overview of the most recent 400 years.

Kennedy's Bar and Restaurant is unique to York, set in the quarter, just a stone's throw from York Minster, Kennedy's offers a stylish and modern setting for people to drink and dine, and features a roof top sun terrace, a contemporary ground floor bar an
Me and my Mrs nipped in on a Taco Tuesday afternoon and the place was full. We were offered a couple of seats at the bar and I had an exceptionally good Northern Monk beer while we waited. As soon as a table came free, it was cleared, wiped and we were seated. The menu here isn't what you'd call extensive, but the food we had (burgers not tacos) was very good. We had a bit of a wait, but the place was busy and we had been made aware of the wait prior to ordering so no issues from me on that one. What set this visit apart for me was the service of the two lads waiting our table, Matt and James and the lad behind the bar, Adam. All were professional, friendly and polite but most of all just came across as good people genuinely interested in making our meal as pleasant an experience as possible. We go to York regularly and will definitely be going back to Kennedy's. I can live with a limited menu if this is the service that I'll receive when dining there. Thanks, fellas.Thank you so much! So nice to read, and the lads will be pleased! Keep your eyes peeled as the menu will be changing very soon with some exciting updates! See you again soon no doubt!

We reserved dinner here for our group to experience pub/Yorkshire food. It is right outside wall. Had it not been for poor experience with overall service I may have rated higher. We entered and said we had reservations. We were pointed in general direction of table - no welcome or smile. Ok. Then as we are seated, our waitress was the most unfriendly person encountered on our trip. Spoiled the entire meal. She went on to spill a glass of red wine on one of our party - with little apology. It was very awkward. Sorry we spent our money here with so many options to choose from. The pie crusts were burnt too

A locals local with exceptional food served daily, 11.30AM - 2.00PM AND 5.30PM - 8.30PM (except Sunday night)
You can count on The Ebor for a lovely evening of food, drink and atmosphere. We visited on Friday and were warmly welcomed before being shown to our seats by the open fire. After sampling the tasty range of beers (all of which are very reasonably priced!) we ordered our food - a lasagne and a fish and chips. Both meals were full of flavour and tasted very fresh. To complement the excellent food and drink, the service level of the chap who served us was second to none which I find increasingly rare.We couldn't manage a pudding but the dessert board did look very enticing.All-in-all, if you're after good food at a traditional British pub and value being well looked after, I can't think of anywhere in York where you'll be as satisfied as The Ebor.

Cocktails, craft beer, street food! These are a few of our favourite things. Pop along to The Nook and have a chat with our staff, have a nosey at our interesting decor, and generally have a pretty smashing time in one of York's smallest bars. We love our
Came across this amazing place by chance. Attracted by the street food sign outside. Warm, welcoming with interesting quirky decor. Food did not disappoint either. Freshly prepared, well presented and delicious all at sensible prices. Henry, who served us, took time to answer my many questions about the building and decor. Will seek this out again for sure.

It was my husband's 70th birthday and the general consensus of opinion from the family was "we have never had a bad meal at The White Bear, let's go there" I don't know what went wrong. The landlord was his usual genial host self. You couldn't fault the waiting staff, but the menu has drastically changed and not, in our opinion, for the better. Two of our family had the white onion soup. It looked like something that I would use for hanging wallpaper and they found it inedible. My starter, a terrine?, was not appetising. The main courses were alright, but nothing better than alright. OK, we will probably go back sometime in the future, but not just now.
