We went to The George for lunch however due to lack of vegan/vegetarian choice on menu and the fact selling real fur bobble hats we decided to take our custom to The ship Inn.The Ship Inn came to our rescue, the waitress was friendly and very good at her job, the vegetarian/vegan choice was good and a fair price. I really can not fault the service or the meal, good value for money.I will be back .Thank you The Ship for saving the day.

A friendly country pub set between the rolling green hills of Cranbourne Chase and the New Forest, overlooking the village cricket pitch, with six beautiful rooms, two self catering cottages, a dinning hall, oak-framed conservatory and a tap-room with the
The food was tasty but quite expensive. I would have liked an alternative to Brioche for the burgers.

I was in Fordingbridge recently with friends and we popped in here on chance on a Saturday lunchtime and all had extremely good lunch. Very friendly staff and warm pleasant atmosphere and busy as well. There is a varied menu at very reasonable prices....plenty to choose from including 'on the board' , (the Steak and Kidney pudding was tasty and well cooked) Will definitely visit again !

Food was great, beer delicious (Wadworths - Swordfish especially!) and a lovely atmosphere.Saturday afternoon, and as we were thinking of leaving live music started up, what more could you ask!?Thank you for the awesome review Vince! Glad you enjoyed everything!

We came here for dinner on Friday evening. The atmosphere, service, menu choice and food was excellent. My partner ordered a steak medium well done which was overdone so weâd suggest ordering slightly under what you usually like (I blame him not the pub ). Camembert and risotto was delightful. Weâd definitely return.

During the last week, I have eaten here twice: it now has become my favourite eatery in the area. On a weekday, I enjoyed the Hunters chicken with mushroom sauce, with a large party of ladies. Despite the numbers, the service was efficient & friendly, with excellent attention to the customers. Today I enjoyed their excellent Sunday lunch, beautifully cooked & presented. This will be the venue for entertaining guests in the future.

Ended up here on a trip through the forest with visitors. Had a fantastic lunch and great beer and very friendly staff. My vegetarian partner said her food was clearly cooked by someone who loved food and my burger was fantastic. Shared breads could have had a little more bread for the amount of dips but everything was very tasty.

The Rose and Thistle a beautiful 16th Century thatched pub is nestled in the picture postcard village of Rockbourne on the outskirts of the New Forest. Outside is a lovely cottage garden to while away sunny days and watch the world go by. Inside is the pe
Quick and helpful service, as always in our experience. We chose to have main course and pudding and were happy to wait for the food to be prepared. As usual, it was well presented and came with separate seasonal vegetables alongside, included with the chosen items. A comfortable table, with NO music in the dining area (there's quiet music in the bar-service area, for those who enjoy it -- we don't).This is our chosen venue for eating out in this area.

Under new management. After a period of refurbishment we have recently reopened. Offering fresh local produce cooked to order. Pub classics done in a modern style to something a little bit different.
A very well presented pub, more of a restaurant really. Great parking brings you into the Cartwheel, which is very well decorated throughout. We had a carafe of white wine- nice idea. Then three courses of very well cooked locally sourced food. Lovely evening with great service.Thank you for your glowing review. We have only been open for 6 months following an extensive renovation. We are proud of how it has lightened up the space without losing the feel of a country Inn.Our food is as locally sourced as possible and along with the passion of our chefs it tells with the quality on he plate. I must not forget our attentive waiting staff who often go the extra mile to ensure great customer satisfaction.Hope to see you again in the near future. The Cartwheel Team
