Cod was a thin piece cooked to destruction, completely dried out. The haddock my friend had was excellent , chips great. No excuse for bad fish and chips round here, make a better effort people.why Icelandic cod and Haddock can't get locally landed stuff??
Staff ok not particularly friendly or welcoming unless you are well known to them ( I observed) also you will recieve priority servive if you are lucky enough to be in this group. Had cuppa and piece of cake. Ok and ok. The view for me is really all this place has going for it, or maybe I was unfortunate on both of my visits...sorry.Hi thanks for taking the time to leave a review. Pier Vista is a fish and chip take away and as such we do not not sell cake. Our restaurant, next door, is Bella Vista and we do hot drinks and cake but has been closed over winter. We only started opening Saturdays and Sundays two weeks ago and we haven't had any cake in stock to sell.If i assume that you left your review around the date that you visited, 6th February 2016, there may be a mix up.If not I can only apologize on behalf of the Bella Vista staff. All our customers are equal and service should be uniform across the board. I would be disappointed that on two occasions you have not be satisfied and will draw customer service quality to staff and managers attention. best regards the Pier Vista team

Sea view was always a family favourite and a âgo toâ when we wanted fish and chips.Called today with my 81 year old mum and although spare tables were clearly visible from the front of the queue that was forming we still had to endure a lengthy wait (15 mins) outside in the corridor (13:45. - 14:00). Fish and chips were ok but not to the standards they had 23 years ago when it really was the No1 place to go. Sorry guys but weâre going to find somewhere else to call our âgo toâ
I was in the area to visit relatives and we were highly recommended Bella Vista. I can honestly say it is a very clean establishment and the staff were very friendly, I was served freshly cooked fish and chips which was delicious. I did notice they serve a selection of cakes too, so, yes I treated myself to a slice of carrot cake, now I have tasted many a carrot cake and this was thebest ever!! Nothing was too much trouble. You can see the effort that has gone in to please the customers and I will be back again when I am visiting the North.I would recommend anyone who is in the area to visit as I was totally won over by the full experience.Thank you to the staff.

This place serves salads and pies which are really tasty. Choosing your salad is a great idea as not everyone likes all the choices available. (I can definitely recommend their pork pies but you have to be really early as they sell out fast.). Evenings mean that the salad bar closes and a traditional fish and chip shop takes over. There is a good selection of dishes available, including small portions for children or someone with a little appetite.

we phoned up and ordered several portions of large fish and chips and some sausage and chips for our dinner on nightshift. When they were picked up and arrived back on site the batter was still nice and crunchy the chips were a nice golden colour and not swimming in fat. we all really enjoyed them and cannot wait to sample them again. I think this will become a regular thing.Hi Ken..Thanks for the great review glad you enjoyed the food...always a pleasure...see you soon...

Excellent menu, good service, fab decor - especially the wall art - very tasteful, first class rest room facilities (always important imho). Will definitely visit again and happy to recommend. Good central yet quiet location.

Went to Olivers Restaurant a few weeks ago with a couple of friends. It was very busy but managed to get a table upstairs. Our food took a little time to come but this was because it was cooked fresh. Best haddock in Redcar in my opinion and this is a great little place to stop for lunch if you are out shopping or whatever else. As for the fish and chips - the best around!!Dear Stratman1944,Thank you so much for your time in writing such a lovely review, we are so pleased you enjoyed your visit. Our apologies there appeared to be a little waiting time for when your food arrived, I presume we were busy based on the fact you were seated upstairs. So pleased you enjoyed the Haddock - see you again next time you visit.Kindest regards,Helen Roberts - Owner/ Oliver's Mammy
