A last minute decision to have an early evening meal. Two of us have been here before and 2 hadn't. All of our meal choices were excellent. The staff are excellent and will help with your meal choices and any changes (one of our group is fussy) and accommodated the slight changes with no bother and a smile - what more can you ask for. There is a choice of a set menu or ordering from the main menu, all have a lovely selection to choose from. All in all, well worth a visit.

This has become a favourite family eatery in Middlesbrough. There is always a nice welcoming atmosphere and the service is very friendly and efficient. The quality of food is always excellent and itâs well worth trying the Polish specialities. Even more importantly, you must save room for the delicious homemade cakes.

My wife and I visited Brockley Hall for Sunday lunch courtesy of a voucher from her ex colleagues.Pros:+ Outstanding food+ Excellent service+ Bespoke decor (if that's your thing)Cons:- Toilet facilities - Bespoke decor (if that's not your thing)We reserved for 12:30 on a Sunday after being told they were unable to reserve a table at 13:00. This was fine, although weird that the restaurant was only half full from 13:00-14:30. I started with the egg and avacado, while my wife had farmhouse terrine. Both were excellent, and sensibly sized. The main options were beef, turkey, fish or vegetarian risotto. I had the beef while my wife had the cod.The beef, sirloin, was slightly better done than I like, but it was very tasty. Mash and roast potatoes accompanied and were very good. I would have liked more horseradish sauce too, but it was nice to be offered it. My wife enjoyed her cod, although it was advertised as being served with chorizo and only had two small pieces of it. The highlight was a tray of excellent vegetables. Crunchy, buttery carrots, mixed beans, peas and mange tout, and creamed cabbage, really elevated the meal. For dessert, my wife won with her sticky toffee pudding, swimming in a bath of sickly toffee sauce. Delicious. My chocolate fudge cake was more of a slice, but with cherries, yoghurt and popping candy, it was like a luxurious black forest gateaux.Together with coffee, a beer and a glass of wine, the £70 bill with tip was at the higher end, but worth it in my view. A nice bit of luxury compared to a standard Sunday carvery. The decor is not to my taste as it is a bit colonial, but it is not unpleasant or ugly. Purely a personal taste thing. One improvement I would recommend is the toilet facilities. A single unisex toilet with no window is not ideal. This slightly spoils the hard work of the staff.

Hidden on the edge of this small market town, Cookfella's is establishing itself as a destination restaurant within the North East. We visited on a quiet Thursday lunch time and were surprised by the huge diverse menu on offer. There friendly staff offered us a number of seating options and we eventually chose a table overlooking the busy kitchen. A good selection of drinks are on offer including a decent wine list and cocktails. After perusing the menu and specials we both ordered off the main menu and I enjoyed a excellent craft beer (Goose Island) awaiting its arrival. Service was prompt and efficient and the food fantastic with oodles of flavour. Overall a great place to enjoy lunch or dinner and we look forward to returning. Highly recommended.
