We ate in the restaurant two nights running. On the first night we had the choice of a la carte or a special Christmas menu and chose the former. Service was quick and efficient and my venison steak was tasty but a bit tough. My wife had a small whole chicken which we think was deep fried but was OK rather than memorable. Average cost per main meal £16On the second night we found out we could also choose the bar menu specials and still dine in the relative quiet of the restaurant. Service again was quick and efficient. I had a tasty burger and my wife poached smoked haddock which she really enjoyed. Average cost per main meal £10.Overall we thought the restaurant prices expensive for the quality of the food but the bar prices realistic and good value for money.

This place is a must! I like my food, I like paying a bit more for decent grub, I hate chains where its microwave rubbish. This place delivers and delivers bloody well. Such good quality food, proper decent stuff. Love love loved every bit of it. Thank you xx

I occasionally work in mid Devon and just happened to spot this place. The staff were very attentive and quite charming without bearing overbearing. Good food, beer and all finished with apple crumble and custard!

I haven't visited this restaurant for 18 months so wasn't sure if it would be as good now, I needn't have worried it was superb.The service, the food, the surroundings make a meal here a real treat. I am coeliac but their menu is clearly marked, in fact a whole page is devoted to allergies and where they are likely to be and they advised me they could make other dishes especially for me too.I can't wait to return, this restaurant is a must. My companion was impressed too, and he spends his working life staying in 5* hotels worldwide.

Friday night my wife and I attended a Caribbean theme menu night at la petite bouchée in witheridge square. We were met at the door with a warm and friendly greeting then taken to our table given time to settle in and choose our drinks which were very promptly brought to us as this was a pre booked and pre- ordered choice the starters were brought to us and the rest of the courses came without a wait or us being rushed and we both really enjoyed each course I couldnât pick which one I enjoyed most.It was a great evening and we be looking at future events and definitely returning.Thank you so much for this wonderful review Danny. Our evening meal was superb rump steak cooked to perfection with all the trimmings. The restaurant is decorated very romantic with fairy lights and very interesting bits and pieces the staff were very happy and friendly. We also had a Sunday roast the next day it was the best we ever had tender beef and at least six vegetables and amazing roast potatoes. The landlord is a very happy chap and proud of his pub and so he should be.We are so glad that you enjoyed the ambiance, your rump steak and the Sunday roast beef. All our beef is either quality West Country or Exmoor beef. A big thank you for your super review, from all of us here at The Mitre Inn and we hope to see you again in the future.

Amazing food yet again at this warm cozy bistro.Fabulous service and a great menu that changes regularly.All our dishes were absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. My pork belly and all its accompaniments was outstanding. All the rich and varied tastes really complimented each other. A great chef.
