Waiting to catch an overnight ferry in Plymouth and looking for a quick meal before boarding, we came across Fortune Court located by the harbour. We were a little dismayed to find that they only did a set price meal; as much as you could eat for £18 (£22 at weekends) and we had only 30 minutes to eat. However we explained this to the very helpful staff and within 10 minutes our table was laden with several well cooked dishes. it wasn't a buffet style all you can eat meal, everything was cooked to order exactly as you fancied it. The waitress explained that the chef had been prepping the ingredients all day so that everything was ready and to hand to be cooked. We were only sorry that we hadn't more time to appreciate it We had the best Chinese meal we had had for a long time .The decor was a little tired and worn, but no matter, this restaurant is all about the food.Do try it.

Meal was out of this world, would definitely recommend, staff weâre friendly and service was excellent.
This restaurant was sorely missed but pleased to say it has reopened under new management. Popped in to try it out at lunch today and delighted to see that it is if anything better than before. Food excellent. Lunch has got quite a bit more expensive but the dinner and take away menu are as reasonable as ever. Hope they keep open

The Noodle Lounge has been our favourite Barbican eating place for years. We have had many dozens of excellent meals and very good times here. One of the many delights has been the enthusiasm and speed with which the chef has produced fantastic dishes all within sight at his end of the corner kitchen. Last Sunday we called in early evening only to be met on the stairs by a friendly lady in traditional costume who explained simply that the Noodle Lounge would be closed 'for a while'. Disappointed we left in search of a default option. Twice this week we have 'phoned to book but no pick up. Late this Saturday afternoon still nothing but we called sister restaurant Hakka and enquired. Johnny Wong told us that very suddenly and sadly the NL chef had had a heart attack and it was impossible to say when they may be able to reopen. Very sad and we hope that a fantastic chef recovers safely, whether or not he is able to resume exactly as before. We can wait!
