A stunning 16th century public house, The Golden Boar offers restaurant quality food in lovely old world surroundings. The focal point of The Golden Boar is undoubtedly The Conservatory Restaurant, a modern, airy space with breathtaking views of the idyll
A little Saturday treat... And oh boy what a treat it is! It's been reopened by new owners since May and it is just great!! Really friendly staff, welcoming atmosphere, and you definitely don't have to be a local to enjoy, and the food tasty and decently portioned, recommend the chocolate pot and the burger (see pictures). It has music and quiz nights so we will be back. Thanks for having us!

Squires Restaurant at Bedford Lodge Hotel has undergone a stunning refurbishment and menu overhaul. The walls are adorned with carefully selected pieces of art mostly conducive of still life which bring the artistic decor into being. The vibrant colour sc
Visited Squires today (Friday 22nd) for a birthday meal and have left feeling incredibly disappointed. The service can usually be quite hit an miss but today was just another level and has forced me to write this review. From the moment we arrived we were kept waiting for over 5 minutes by the restaurant manager (or I assume thatâs what he was) there was no apology for the wait. We were seated and had to ask to be given a wine list. We ordered a bottle of champagne which arrived promptly and ordered the food. We received some complementary bread which tasted nice. We continually had to top up our own champagne as the manager or other members of staff just seem to stare at an empty glass and ignored it. When youâre spending nearly £100 on a bottle you donât expect to have to do it yourself. The food itself was nice but the lack of any type of service ruined the evening. The manager seemed to be away with the fairies the majority of the time and not a clue what he was doing. When I refused to pay the service charge the manager came over and asked why, I explained why and all I got was, is that it... Itâs a massive shame as the food is lovely, but let down by the management and service.

I'd been keen to try this restaurant for a while, having really enjoyed good Polish country-style food at a restaurant in Warsaw a few times. Although that restaurant was MUCH larger than this one, the experience here in Newmarket was really good too. You will most likely hear Polish being spoken around too - some from the staff and most likely customers as well. Really interesting meats - wild boar, venison etc. on the menu, and some weekend specials that aren't available Monday to Friday (note to self - visit on a weekend sometime and try them). Portion size was on the large side (I remember that from Warsaw too)... and actually we were discussing the morning after eating that we could probably have shared one of the wonderful platter starters and one main between two of us and been satisfied. Interesting semi-sweet red Romanian wine (clearly made for the Polish market) on the menu - not particularly to my taste but glad to have tried it.Very friendly and helpful service. There were some veggie options on the menu, but I suspect this is a place that some vegetarians would find challenging (you sit on sheepskin and there are skins mounted on the wall) - but I enjoyed it very much.

Revitalised and reopened in October 2013. The Packhorse Inn offers a truly stunning dining and staying experience. Mediocrity is most certainly not on the menu or indeed any aspect of this eight bedroom country inn, which deliberately sets out to stretch
Cycled out here from Cambridge on Friday. Lovely building - itâs as good as the photos. Friendly and professional welcome from Hannah and the team. Good beer (Pure Gold) at a welcoming bar space. Delicious food (we had asparagus with pear and shallot to start, followed by chorizo and Parmesan crusted cod with white bean ragout, and my wife had wild mushroom with pearl barley ragout). Not much vegetarian choice but the mushrooms were just fine! Thanks everyone! Hope we will be back soon! JDear Jamesscff, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Great to hear we looked after you so well, I have passed your praise onto Hannah, thank you. The team and I look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards Stuart

We left home for a long travel up to Great Yarmouth and decided to have a nice, cooked breakfast on our way up to make a break in our journey. At Newmarket hubby decided he was hungry, so I looked on my TA app and found this place. So off we went to The Pantry. We parked in the nearby short stay car park and managed to find this place quite easily. It was just after 10.30am that we got here and we were amazed at just how busy it was.We noticed most people arriving seem to stop in the entrance area and wait to be greeted and sat down at an available table, although there isn't a notice telling you to do this! There's a big menu choice here. Hubby ordered a cooked breakfast and I, an eggs benedict. We had about a 15 minute wait for our food to arrive - which we felt was quite good considering how very busy it was here.Hubby loved his cooked breakfast, he had asked for white toast with it - see photo. My eggs benedict was on four big wedges of, I think, sourdough toast. The outside crusts were extremely hard and I just couldn't eat them, which was a shame. I thought this would come on muffins, which is the usual way - so it would be nice to have that option as I'd much prefer it. The toast I got seemed to be all crusts :(However, the hollandaise sauce was superb, the eggs were perfectly cooked and the ham also tasted really good quality - so I did enjoy this a lot.I had a latte with this and that was also excellent. Hubby asked for an elderflower cordial but it was so weak when he tasted it, he asked for some more cordial to be put in and that made it very nice! The costs for our breakfast were - latte £2.35 elderflower cordial £1 Pantry cooked breakfast £8 eggs benedict £8Total cost for breakfast £19.35Service was very good throughout our time here.

Just been to this pub/restaurant for a meal and and evening of entertainment. Have to say it was well worth going to. The food was home cooked and was lovely, the actual venue was great as were the staff and owners. A visit is a must. Definitely will be going back. Congratulations to all concerned for a great evening.
