The Belle is situated in Bassingbourn-cum-Kneesworth, a vibrant village community set in stunning South Cambridgeshire countryside just outside the Market town of Royston. The Belle is a restaurant and bar that offers brilliantly cooked simplicity with a
Well I love the decor, ... place has a big change. We were a group of ladies there for a 60âs birthday. And bottomless prosecco evening too.I think the menu was a bit limited for common peeps ! ( by which I mean soup of the day, prawn cocktail etc)I personally had lovely food with the salmon followed by summer chicken curry and sticky toffee pudding with ice cream... but others had issues with very cool crispy duck ... expectation of crispy duck skin and pink duck hot but not hot at all ! 2x and a cold wild mushroom ravioli... Management rectified this by now offering another 1hrs of free prosecco.3 had desserts off the set menu and 2 had cheese board - again disappointed by chutney and crackers....It was a lovely setting for a birthday setting but the bday girl felt let down by the food as if they were trying to hardGood morning,We appreciate you taking the time to review your stay with us.I'm pleased to read that in the main your experience was a good one, I am however a little bemused around the comments relating to a crispy duck as we have never had this on our menu, now or in the past, further that it was hot but not hot hot! All our food is made by hand including all our pasta as one would expect from an offer such as ours. I'm not sure how one would serve food hot -hot, perhaps if you could email me directly I may be able to overcome this issue with your meal. Therefore if you have the time please do contact me on [email protected] where I would be delighted to to arrange a conversation and look to satisfy you that a 5 star review in future is to our normal expectations.

Local Pub in the rural village of Litlington. Real Ale expertly looked after, real food lovingly made, real people always welcomed. Try us you wont be dissapointed
I decided to turn left instead of the usual right and try a different route to my usual destination.Tucked in Litlinton is this Pub, "Yes" was the answer to my question of "Are you serving Food"They produce a leaflet of Whats on in the Pub During the month of September - in their "around the world" between the 6th September and the 9th - it is USA.That was what I chose.BBQ Ribs Starter - these were absolutely delicious - so tender and moist, fell off the bone. Fingerlicking for sure !!Next, I chose Southern Fried Chicken - the chef says he only cooks thighs mainly, not a bad thing as these tend to be meaty and moist. The coating was yummy. These were served with Sweet Potatoe chips and a chunk of sweetcorn.By far the best choice of dessert I could have made, that was the Plum and Apple Crumble served with custard.Choice of Drinks, Bar Lady/Waitress service - same person for both areas reached via the bar (for her). Chef/ Owner also served to ensure food remained hot.Not the poshest of environments, but clean, very friendly, extremely warm welcome.Very good atmosphere and from the waves of laughter heard from the bar, people definitely relax and enjoy themselves. It appears to be mainly a couple who run the pub/ restaurant area, with adjoining landlord/lady/family accommodation upstairs. New ventures maybe? They are doing well, lovely couple and family members observed briefly early evening. Other activities through the month range from Karaoke; Music Quiz; Pie Night; Steak Night; Every Saturday evening two courses for £12.00; Sunday Roast Returns £12.00 (different size portions available); Bingo; Pensioner Lunches Tues - Saturday £6.00. Even have Pizza Options - prices range from £5.50 for 8" - £12.00 for largest 16"Different leaflet every month.Option to either eat in - or call in the order and take-away.Highly recommended - Give them a try. I myself cannot wait to return to this lovely and welcoming village pub.

Set in a charming 15th Century Building - Chequers Gastropub Royston delivers modern approach to a classic taste. Start with a finely selected plate of tapas. Enjoy fresh homemade burgers and pizza. Relax with a glass of beer or wine or in front of the fi
Arrived at 2pm to find it completely empty. Disappointed with the menu although the prices were cheap enough. Not much Italian on the starters - baked camembert was ok, the bruchetta a bit underwhelming and the chicken goujons served on a bed on iceberg lettuce - not exactly appealing. Apart from pizza, not much Italian mains. The lamb shanks were tough, the seafood linguini wasn't! Two tough prawns and 2 overcooked green lipped mussels with what I am sure was spaghetti. Hardly any deserts, ice cream, chocolate brownie or tiramisu.
