England, United Kingdom Food Guide: 5 European food Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Broadstairs

May 5, 2020 Kelli Reichel

Find out what European restaurants to try in Broadstairs. Broadstairs is a coastal town on the Isle of Thanet in the Thanet district of east Kent, England, about 80 miles (130 km) east of London. It is part of the civil parish of Broadstairs and St Peter's, which includes St Peter's, and had a population in 2011 of about 25,000. Situated between Margate and Ramsgate, Broadstairs is one of Thanet's seaside resorts, known as the "jewel in Thanet's crown". The town's crest's Latin motto is Stella Maris ("Star of the Sea"). The name derives from a former flight of steps in the chalk cliff, which led from the sands up to the 11th-century shrine of St Mary on the cliff's summit.

The atmosphere and ambience is wonderful with good attention to detail. The decor is elegant and modern. The staff were attentive, polite, enthusiastic and welcoming throughout our meal. The food was exquisite.A light, crunchy salt cod fishcake served on piquant onions and sweet peppers, topped with an egg. The plate was dressed with a parsley drizzle. Divine. The roast sirloin of beef was deep with flavour. The roast potatoes were of the triple cooked variety, judging by the crisp crust and fluffy insides. A huge homemade Yorkshire, and mixed - perfectly cooked - fresh vegetables made up the rest of the main.Raspberry souffle for dessert was crunchy topped, tart in taste, incredibly light in texture and served with a rich vanilla ice cream which complimented it beautifully. An excellent meal and dining experience.Highly recommended.

Spanish tapas in Broadstairs? Well the best I expected was an enthusiastic amateur or maybe a franchise operator. What I got was superb cooking and a real understanding of the cuisine. . Dish after dish of mouthwatering yumminess. Good selection of Spanish beers and sherry. £30 will fill up a greedy person. Don’t try to interact with chef/owner. His forte is the cooking.

We first visited this restaurant when it first opened three years ago and vowed to go back again. We returned tonight and it hadn't changed, thank goodness! The service and staff/owners are first class. It has a "select" menu, and the food is excellent. I hope it stays around for many years to come and will still be there when we return in another three years. Thank you for a lovely evening.
