Very pleasant surroundings with beautiful views as far as the river Mersey. Brunch in the Spikes Bar was okay but the menu has been much reduced including the disappearance of the scrumptious turkey and cranberry sandwiches. No festive afternoon teas being served this year also a disappointment. Hopefully the new year will see a review of the menu. Also £2.25 for a small bottle of Coca Cola is rather excessive.

We managed to make a very last minute booking, knowing we might arrive late. The receptionist was totally fine about our late arrival, helped us with our bags to our room and made sure we didn't miss last orders! The room was immaculate, beautiful comfy bed, up to the minute decor and great shower. As we're regular visitors now, it's great to be known by the staff, who are helpful and informed about the plans for the hotel. Breakfast was brilliant as always.Highly recommend this hotel, enjoy your visit!
