I was visiting family in Northampton for the day. We opted for a Chinese takeaway in the evening. After looking through the reviews, I opted for the new sunrise. The food was delivered in good time, however the food was extremely disappointing. We ordered mushroom chow mein with rice. The chow mein had no flavour whatsoever it was extremely bland and so dry. We were eating dry, cooked noodles! I wonât be using this restaurant for a takeaway in the future.

We came on a Monday night and this place was rammed! We had a mixed starter between four which was nice and then an aromatic duck to share. We were stuffed and then realised that the main courses were coming out! Portion sizes are huge!!!! Good value and service and the food is nice too, will be back

Read the reviews on Trip Advisor and chose Oriental Garden for a take away. This is also an eat in restaurant, whilst waiting for our take away the staff were rushing around in the normal manner. They all (including the manager /owner) looked miserable and didnât raise a smile or indulge in any conversation.Once opened the 1/4 Crispy aromatic duck hadnât been shredded, I shredded it up but it was so over cooked and dry, best described as Cremated aromatic duck My wife had chicken curry which was the spiciest Chinese curry sheâs ever experienced but said she enjoyed it.However the large portion of mushroom rice was over cooked and stodgy This rice was to accompany the Sweet & Sour chicken my son had ordered so it spoilt his mealMy âSpecial Chowmeinâ dish was far from special! The prawns were tiny and tasted vile, there was no cabbage, water chestnuts, sauce, peas or noodles. The fact was little in it apart from disgusting dry Chowmein, I couldnât even tell you what the other non tasting meat was and this crap ended up in the bin. Frustrating when it was a special event and we were hungry.Crap food sold at an enormous profit really annoys me.Best avoid is my advice

We have visited the Mandarin lots since it first opened. Unfortunately, this time we were disappointed. Apart from being massively understaffed, the food was not great. Very tough meat, lots of msg & not very hot. Desserts were not as good ..... shop bought swiss roll and jam tarts with squirty cream, not very appealing. Used plates piled up on our table as not collected for ages. Grumpy lady taking our drinks order which we waited 20 minutes for and grumpy again when we paid the bill. Don't think we'll be returning for a while.
