Bolton (/ˈbɒltən/ ( listen) or locally [ˈbɜʏtn̩]) is a town in Greater Manchester in North West England. A former mill town, Bolton has been a production centre for textiles since Flemish weavers settled in the area in the 14th century, introducing a wool and cotton-weaving tradition. The urbanisation and development of the town largely coincided with the introduction of textile manufacture during the Industrial Revolution. Bolton was a 19th-century boomtown, and at its zenith in 1929 its 216 cotton mills and 26 bleaching and dyeing works made it one of the largest and most productive centres of cotton spinning in the world. The British cotton industry declined sharply after the First World War, and by the 1980s cotton manufacture had virtually ceased in Bolton.

Viva España has been serving delicious tapas to hungry Boltonians since 2001. Hailing from the great Spanish city of Murcia, owner and head chef Javier has lovingly developed an extensive menu with dishes to suit every palate.
We came midweek, the tables are very small so we sat at a bigger one to fit our dishes. The tapas dishes are large portions and are tasty however I was disappointed that the tomato & onion I ordered came as large pieces of tomato and onion rather than all chopped up, I appreciate this must be the style & done deliberately but it's not my kind of salad. My friends artichoke salad looked good. We both enjoyed the garlic bread & homemade meatballs. We ordered 4 dishes each yet we had 2 at a time which we didn't mind however some people may not like that as you might have wanted your salad with something coming after? They should discuss this with you to see if you mind. The male serving us could barely speak any English which made communication about small things difficult, he was pleasant enough so no fault of his but not once did I see any other waiter or manager, perhaps because it was a quiet weekday only 1 person on the main room area but I felt it wasn't enough.Price was very reasonable.I would recommend on the whole but just be wary it is small & cosy environment.

Went here on Octber 18th with my wife. She had been before, this was my first experience. Quite a small venue, tables quite close together. We sat upstairs which started very quiet but filled up throughout the evening. Didn't notice other people's conversations or the area feeling too tight of space. The options on the menu are terrific, neither of us ate meat but there was so much to choose from in the vegetarian and seafood sections. We tried 6 of the various offerings, the goats cheese bon bons and tuna tartare particularly delicious. A nice aspect was that there felt like there was more to try when we come again. The service was truly excellent, very attentive and chatty from Karolina. Great venue in a much needed part of town that could do with some more bars/restaurants.Will definitely come back to try more!
