We decided to visit this restaurant specifically to try their steak on the stone. We had enjoyed this style of cooking whilst on holiday abroad and love the fact that you can cook your own steak exactly as you like it. We were shown to our table by Monica who was polite and efficient throughout our visit and is an asset to this restaurant. First impressions were that the restaurant was spacious but quite noisy. To be fair it could also have be described as lively, but is maybe not ideal if you are looking for a quiet romantic meal? Unfortunately things did not get off to a good start as my wine was served in a glass that still had lipstick around the rim from a previous customer! However this was changed without question. Our drinks were served with an additional jug of water and a separate bowl of ice cubes along with a bowl of popcorn which was a nice touch. We both ordered the steak on the stone (flat iron) accompanied with sautéed vegetables and sweet potato chips and chips with truffle oil (excellent). The steak also came with separate pots of peppercorn sauce, salt and a mixed pot of seasoning. The steak was a little tough compared to fillet which we normally order but was full of flavour and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The sautéed vegetables and both types of chips were excellent, crunchy and very well seasoned. The house red wine was also very nice. For dessert the apple pie which was recommended by Monica was very nice. The cheesecake for us was far too firm (possibly too much gelatin) and did not have a lot of flavour. Overall we had a very enjoyable meal and would return and recommend.

This was our first visit to the Broadwick, for lunch to celebrate our 38th wedding anniversary. We were greeted at the door and shown to our seats, which were extremely comfortable, armchair type seats. We were given a carafe of water while we selected our meals and drinks. We choose our dishes from the lunch time set menu - I had the cheese burger and my husband had the chicken schnitzel. We also had a glass of very drinkable merlot. For desert I had cheesecake and my husband had apple pie.We both enjoyed our meals very much and found the service to be friendly, efficient and timely. If we hadnât used the lunch time set menu, the meal would have been on the pricey side. However, the food is excellent and the restaurant has an lovely ambiance, so I think itâs worth paying a little more, especially for a special occasion. We will definitely return to the Broadwick.

Myself and 4 friends booked 'Powder and Magazine' for a much needed meal out. First impressions were good. The decor was lovely however we waited for a while for menus and this inattentive service continued for the duration of our meal. Myself and a friend ordered the crab starter which was small and could have done with a bread of some sort on the side. Two of us ordered the lamb as a main course but when ordering our side dishes the waitress did not point out that we had ordered potatoes even though the dish was served with potatoes, this would have been helpful. The lamb main course was a real disappointment; it arrived warm not hot and the lamb which was supposed to be herb crusted had little seasoning. My friend ordered beans on the side which were also bland and unseasoned. The potatoes that arrived as part of the dish were rock hard and dry. Again the portion size did not reflect the price. We raised this with the staff who agreed to take off the 2 lamb courses from the bill. Our other 3 friends ordered the halloumi burgers which were chewy and the burger in general was dry. Two of my friends used the toilet and found that the floor was wet due to a splashy tap. To top things off my friend and I who had the crab have both experienced tummy aches following our meal. All in all a real disappointment.

At a recend cream tea we were served with "Mr Kipling" cakes and the sandwiches were bland, uninteresting and the edges were hard. The staff were excellent however.
