The Gaddum is situated in the main building at the Brockhole National Park Visitors Centre. At the moment they are only open from 1100-1600 which is a shame as the menu seems to be more aimed towards fine dining and not the usual lunch menu you will find in the majority of Lake District restaurants. Unfortunately my wife and I were the only customers which is a shame as the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. My had a main course and a desert each plus drinks and it was just over £50. My wife had Bream Blackened cauliflower, pickled cauliflower, capers, seaweed. Followed by Banana ParfaitBanana jam, elderflower, summer berries, caramel .I had the Pan Roasted Duck BreastCrispy figs, fig & liquorice puree, Roscoff onion followed by the Brockhole’s Moss Covered WallDark chocolate crèmeux, pistachio, caramelised white chocolate .If we had been to a high end restaurant anywhere in the Lakes in the evening and eaten this meal we would have been more than happy and would happily have paid twice the amount.I hope that the Gaddum becomes a success as the setting, service and food are wonderful.
