At Chequers we aim to provide a new way to dine, a relaxed vintage atmosphere, exciting rustic British food and a classic British bar. With our chefs locally sourcing ingredients from only farms that we have firsthand knowledge of, foraging for those spec
Came here after discovering the Senlac hotel had no beer and not much food. Menu a bit up market for us (We're more 'pie & chips' people) but discovered that all main meals are half price on Tuesdays - result. Had salmon nicoise and Cod & chips, both meals excellent. Also a nice pint of Harveys sussex ale on. Well pleased.

Lovely food, wine and great service. It is such a shame it felt clinical. It's lost that cosy feel, the intimacy has gone. It's very bright with the lighting a bit like being in a spotlight. No window dressing made you feel very exposed. The people that own it are such a lovely couple.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was at this restaurant in the old part of Hastings. The four of us met on Wednesday 24th July for lunch at about 1 pm. We did not bother with starters but two of us had the 6 oz Burger and two had the Risotto. We had a jug of water with lemon, orange and cucumber plus some sparkling mineral water. We also had americano coffees. The food and coffee was superb. Very please with the ambiance, service. The bill came to about £56. If I was not driving I would have been tempted to try the 10 different beers on tap! I recommend this restaurant and bar.
