While on weekend get away visiting Isle of Wight we found this little gem the centre of East Cows. The food was exceptional and the service was fantastic. All the food tasted so fresh. Very delicately flavored food, home baked bread was amazing. Can’t wait to come back Hey Tai, thank you for the awesome review! xX

Nice cosy cafe with good coffee and service. The scones and cakes looked lovely. The homemade menu of things like spaghetti bolognaise looked tempting.

I had heard many good things about Gastronomy and when looking for options for a reasonable size gathering to accomodate a variety of dietry needs, Gastronomy was highly recommended. I booked through Facebook Messenger, which seemed too simple, but did the job. I was advised that a table of our size could be accomodated at either 1830 or 2030. I opted for the 1830, as despite it being early for supper, we all enjoy a drink and it was due to be a very sociable occasion. We arrived and were shown to our table, beautiful decor and lovely features made it welcoming and friendly, without being pretentious. I must however mention the ladies toilets were utterly filthy!Drinks were good, though the 'house' white wasn't well recieved. Starters were yummy, though we felt poorly described, the 'crispy chicken and avocado bao' was spicy and my friend can't tollerate spice, though I quickly helped her out, and it was yummy. Mains were also excellent, very tasty, but the Memphis Chicken was on the bone (again, not mentioned on the menu) and another friend can't cope with meat on the bone so she didn't eat it. (Perhaps we were very fussy!?) My rib eye though was excellent and perfectly cooked to my liking. Basically, it was all pretty good... until they started whipping our plates from under us... the waitress tried to steal my half eaten bucket of chips but my glare meant she swiftly put them back! I couldn't understand the hurry to clear our plates. Basically, one of our party was still eating and the rest of our plates had been taken, which is just as much of a pet peeve as having dirty plates left in front of me for ages! We then wanted a couple of bottles of champagne and this is where the issue started... we were told this wouldn't be possible as our table was rebooked for 8.30pm with another party. We also would have had desserts and probably more cocktails... however this was again not possible. We were told we could use the standing space in the bar, but this wasn't to our taste. Sadly the end of our experience at Gastronomy left a bitter taste... happy to take our money for the 2 hour slot we apparently had been allocated (but not informed about), but happier still to hope that the following party would be so enthusiastic with their spending... I get their theory of flipping tables, I understand that in a seasonal location you must make hay while sun shines, but I am a firm believer in ensuring that your customer service and most importantly communication is clear. We were not informed at any juncture that our table would need to have been vacated by 2030, otherwise I would have booked differently. As a group of 10 local people, we would not return to Gastronomy despite the decent food and cocktails... there are plenty of other excellent choices where the communication is clearer and the customer is valued.
