A small family run business with fantastic food and very friendly service.
Having spent my youth in Bradford, I have always struggled to find F&Cs of comparable quality. My search is over. The fish was stunning and the chips delicious.Cooking in beef dripping makes all the difference, even my vegetarian fish eating wife commented on how nice they were !Holidaying in Austria soon - must make a mental note to taste theirs :-)

I do not understand why this restaurant is not higher on the Penzance Trip Adviser list--the food is excellent. We had booked, fortunately, for the restaurant was absolutely full. I had black bream cooked to perfection, my friend ordered the brill, which he pronounced outstanding. With a bottle of wine the bill of £30,00 a head including tip was good value. Will definitely return.Dear Peter Thank you so much for your positive review. Will pass this onto the rest of the team. Much appreciated.RegardsNigel N WallerProprietor

We had eaten here some years ago so were looking forward to an evening out. Firstly the male waiter looked at us as if to say yes, what are you doing here?! We had a table booked for 8pm. We were then squeezed in between two tables of four, one of which clearly weren't happy we were sitting there as they had to move their bags. I did apologise as no room to remove coats and as no one offered to take them when we arrived it meant we rainwater went everywhere - but I can see this didn't happen to just us. Long wait for service. Restaurant too hot. Felt uncomfortable as we were sandwiched in. Had to go up to the bar to pay as no one came to the table following the bill. Clearly interrupting the woman behind the counter who was abrupt & eventually shouted at a colleague to assist us (who was in turn very pleasant). All in all very disappointed & left as soon as we could. I note other comments here regarding too many tables. I know you want to maximize profit but it's uncomfortable, not at all relaxing. We don't all want to hear other people's conversation. On the plus side Mt husband loved his crab soufflé!We are very sorry to read that you were unhappy with the service and will speak to staff concerned. With all the amazing comments we receive I can assure you this is not a normal experience. However with regards to tables being rammed in our table layout and restaurant has remained unchanged for 13 years and we serve countless numbers of customers both regulars and new on a daily basis who are happy. We would always prefer to hear these comments both positive and negative personally rather than in the public domain. Therefore we can deal with any issues at the time and thank those with kind words personally. Joe and Kerry

We spent the whole day wondering where we could go for dinner and after walking past the restaurant decided this is where we would go. Thankfully they had a table for us that evening and we weren't disappointed. The food was all perfect and very fresh. Will certainly be making a point of going back next time we're in Cornwall.

The Old Lifeboat House has great character and they have used it well to create a really nice dining experience. They offer great service and welcomed our dog to sit quietly under the table. The menu is good with plenty of fish options. The quality, flavours and presentation were fantastic and the Chocolate Affogato to finish - superb. Thoroughly recommend.

Came here for lunch today and it was delicious, fresh and uncomplicated. Great menu, lovely drink selection and Super friendly staff Made us feel welcome and we thoroughly loved all our plates. Made us wish we lived closer. Thanks x

Online Bookings only, no walk-ins. Bookings close at 1pm for the current day. Set menu (fish/seafood) only, no a la carte. Booking is essential as we buy fresh produce daily and refuse walk-ins due to stock levels. A small family run seafood restaurant. R
Exquisite seafood-focused tasting menu with interesting Japanese influences, but not being gimmicky or fusion-y. It's more than just a "one-man" show now as the chef has staff to handle the front of the house, but Bruce also likes to chat with diners after their meal, which is awesome experience. He's a charming, enthusiastic host, and his energy manifests in all of his dishes.
