As the title says, the visit was diabolical. What the hell has happened at this pub?Almost always empty and not difficult to see why. Sadly a lick of paint outside and name change cannot hide what's going on inside the pub. Poor, poor service. Orders wrong, reordered, came back wrong a second time! One order never came at all............ This place needs a serious shake up. Either major staff training, or hiring staff and cooks that are actually interested in their jobs. One of our party having had nothing to eat ended up having to go elsewhere to get his evening meal! This was incidentally, despite ordering food. Which just never come. Are they going by foot to nearest city to get the ingredients? I really cannot understand how this place has dropped so badly in standards. There's a branch in Preston so I can only assume that the group/owners aren't really interested. But given the number of vouchers and refunds that was given out to disgruntled customers last night, I can't imagine it will be able to continue like this. Wednesday night, quiz night, what a wasted opportunity guys. WILL NOT BE BACK.
A modern bar offering a fantastic range of beers, wines and spirits. Our cocktail menu is delivered by professionally trained mixologists, if it's not on our menu just ask. We offer food through out our opening times and on Sunday a full Sunday roast is a
Tried Sunday lunch today, excellent but slow service from the bar. The food was served very fast and at £4.99 you can't expect much. The meat was served with a Yorkshire, 4 veg and 3 potatoes with gravy. It was excellent. However the beef was pre-packed already sliced meat which ruins the meal slightly. We'd much rather pay £6.95 for better quality meat. Will definitely call again. Many thanks for the good review, we work hard to please our customers, old and new. I'd like to assure you our meat is not pre packed, we cook the meat fresh every week and it's sliced thinly with a professional meat slicer. We'll take onboard that you'd like the meat cut a bit thicker in the coming weeks, however we are delighted you liked our Sunday lunches. Regarding the slow bar service, we can only apologies and look in to this issue. Once again thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you in the future.

We always struggle to find a dog friendly place in Workington so were pleasantly surprised to find this pub had a dog friendly area. We ordered Steak Pie and Lasagne. Both were very tasty and good value. Staff were really friendly and we would definitely recommend. See you again soon
Came here for the first time in years and for the first time since itâs makeover. First impression was what a great job had been made and it was almost unrecognizable. The food is absolutely amazing value at 2 meals for £10 and the drinks are reasonably priced. The barman who served us drinks and took our order was very friendly and efficient. The meals themselves were plentiful and really tasty. Homemade chips too! The kids meals are great value too with ice cream and a drink included. There were a few tables empty when we went in but filled up a bit more, however there was still a few spare tables, but this place deserves to full after my first impression of the place. Well done everyone involved!

Called for lunch on a Saturday.Plenty of car parking.Inside was OK but tables were overdue for clearing - used dinner plates & glasses standing.Only one girl behind bar, taking orders, delivering food & clearing tables - she was trying but could have done with some help.Problem with pumps meant beer choice was worthington or nothing.Food was OK when it came out but nothing special - dressed salad on everything whether it went or not.One meal was ordered as beef curry & rice & bill said beef curry & rice. However, food that came was chicken sweet & sour.Didn't want to wait for correct meal & so ate this instead - underwhelming. We can only guess that the kitchen make chicken sweet & sour by the bucketload as we've seen other reviews where this has been served instead of what was ordered. There are better pubs to go for lunch - not worth the drive out.

, all our food is prepared & cooked to order from local fresh produce. We can cater for all your needs no party is to small or large .
We had a family meal here on 9th July to celebrate my husband's birthday. Six adults plus our 7 year old grand daughter. We had a variety of meals, which included minted lamb shank, steaks, scamp, mixed meat salad and everything was perfectly faultless. We hadn't visited Briery for about three years, even though we live on Moor Road, but we intend to visit again soon. There's no need to travel elsewhere when we have such a good establishment virtually on our doorstep. The staff were all extremely pleasent and the lady and gentleman who are running the place were lovely, they made us feel genuinely welcome There were certainly no negatives about our visit.

Called here for lunch having passed by the previous day. The staff were very welcoming and friendly - and during our visit they were very hard working. Nothing was too much trouble and the food was delicious! After a starter and a main we had no room left for dessert. Will definitely return. Good Morning and thankyou for the lovely review, I will pass this onto our hardworking team and im sure they will appreciate this. We hope to see you again soon at The Galloping Horse.Kind RegardsColetteManager

Been many times before and always satisfied. Had the half chicken and home made chips - excellent! The wife had chicken strips with Stilton Sauce, her words âlovelyâ and yes you may have gathered she is from Workington! The two guys serving were both extremely attentive and friendly. Surprisingly busy for a Tuesday ! Free WiFi but slow.

Chef patron Warwick Muir opened Oily's in June 2008 since then it has carved out a reputation as one of Cumbria's premier eateries. The food is classic British with a few Mediterranean elements.
