Traditional brewery tap pub, attached to The Burton Bridge Brewery. We have a skittle alley and a meeting room that are both available to hire, great for parties and team building.
This was a great find on our short trip to Burton upon Trent. Right across from our hotel, the pub is friendly and welcoming and has a great range of ales, some brewed on site I think. The two guys who run the pub are friendly and gave us some really good advice on nearby restaurants. Every are should have a pub like this, thanks.

Not far from home, passed numerous times and never visited. So today was the the day! A few locals in just drinking, which they were friendly enough. Quite an extensive menu, which took me by surprise, and reasonably priced. The food was average. Nothing special.

Been for a drink tonight and found the landlord and landlady absolutely lovely and welcoming. Will definately be going there again and it is a 30 min drive for us!. The families that are moaning about comments made regarding children... Try parenting your own offspring, that alone will make a more enjoyable outing for yourselves and everyone else having to share the space with them. They are after all your responsibility not the staffs!!

We recently visited here for lunch. Not been for a while and I understand that it's now under new management (?) and with a new chef. The food was excellent and good sized portions! The staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly, especially with my elderly parents.Definitely worth visiting again when we are next in the area

Community pub on a main road. Large family beer garden to the rear. Home cooked foods. Real ales. Entertainment. Open fire.
We herd that the Wheel was open for meals again after the kitchen fire, so we rang up and booked a table for 3. Good job we did there wasn't many tables free when we got there. The meals are still great value and good just as well as before. Nice to be able to pop in and have a good steak local again. Thanks to all staff we will be back soon

Visited the Tap House early on a Saturday afternoon to be told the only food being served was a carvery. Personally I'm not the biggest fan of these but it was getting on so 4 carverys adult meals it had to be, clearly advertised at £7.95 each on a large chalkboard. When paying the bill we were charged £8.95, when challenging this we were told that, quote, 'we haven't had the time to change the board' , remember the price was on a chalkboard! One wipe with a wet cloth accross the board which the staff were constantly walking past? The carvery itself wasn't the best and served entirely by the girl behind the counter who made it very clear she didn't want to be there. All the other places who do a carvery that I've been to, serve the meat and leave the customer to serve themselves potatoes, vegetables etc, not here. Apparently also there's a minimum card transaction of £5 which is in my experience becoming very out dated as I don't normally carry cash. This place is in the middle of nowhere. Other places I've been to charge a card their minimum amount then give the change in cash, everybody happy & the establishment doesn't lose a transaction. Lastly the very loud outside music was annoying when trying to hold a conversation and some of the benches were boarderline dangerous as they were so rickety. All in all a poor experience of a place I have heard rave reviews about and doubt that I'll be returning anytime soon. I have used this place many times throughout the years through many reincarnations, The Malt Shovel, Mother Hubbard's, The Answell etc etc and in fact it was my late brother in law's local and this was the first time I was left extremely disappointed.

My wife and l chose the Mill Wheel as gluten free / vegetarian food was advertised via the Gourmet Society. We were not disappointed l had a Thai curry containing flaked coconut , chopped lemon grass and spices we were unable to identify , the taste was incredible! My wife had an equally outstanding tomatoe rissoto. We shared a gluten free strawberry and rhubarb cheese cake-excellent.The staff were attentive and helpful and the surroundings very rustic with the mill wheel in situ for viewing.Well worth another visit.

We booked in for a Sunday Lunch. The pub is quite a small establishment, but we'll kept and clean. There was a really friendly welcome on arrival. The choice of meat for the Sunday Lunch was good. The food came out together, hot and plenty of it with lots of choice. The owner was around and talking with all customers which was lovely to see and added to the welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. All of the other staff were all very friendly and polite. Great choice of dessert and my mum was even offered too take hers home instead of eat straight away as she was full. For the price it was really good value. Would recommend to people and will definitely go again.
