Happened to pass this little gem on our way to Rochester castle today. We and our Jack Russell cross were welcomed with open arms. A comfortable seating in the back bar with a fan to keep us cool and a welcome bowl of water for our dog. Well cooked roast beef washed down with a real ale and a nice white wine. Would recommend and definitely return.

A great British Tavern sitting upon the River Medway, in Upnor village. Serving traditional cask ales, ciders and lagers. A team of chefs, and friendly warm staff serving traditional British Fayre, specialising in fresh fish and local produce. Relax on th
Lovely quiet pub overlooking the river. We decided to eat inside as it was very peaceful and comfortable. The portion of steak and ale pie with mash and peas was enormous. It was delicious but in spite of not having breakfast I couldn't finish it. I did have a small problem with the ladies loo. I couldn't find the light switch, the doors didn't seem to lock and there was no handbag hook and I do hate having to put my bag on the floor. However I could have asked for help with the switch, left my bag with my husband and sang while in the loo. A great lunch we will be back.Thank you, Margaretena, most kind of you to take the time to place a nice review. I will instruct some hooks for the ladies loos, nobody has ever said this before. The lights are in the bmain kitchen they should have been put on by staff in the morning, i will have a word with them for the future, many thanks.

Good friends of ours recommended The Butcher Block, and was very pleased with our visit. My food was lovely- Scotch Egg- Starter. Fillet Steak Main and a cheeky chocolate & Peanut Cheesecake. My Partner- Scallops- Starter (must admit two small Scallops served not really a decent portion for the price) T-Bone -Main and Chocolate & Orange Torte for dessert. Service was good, and very nice waitress and lovely selection of wines to choose from. Its a gem to find and will visit again.
