Beautiful Old Village Pub on Elwick's Village Green serving Cask Ales and full drinks selection and Bar Meals Wednesday - Saturday evenings as well as Sunday lunches. Sky Sports and BT Sport also shown live. Real log fires.
Decided to visit the Mcorville Inn for lunch because of the realistic lunch menu that looked to be freshly made!We had very good fish and chips - all freshly prepared and cooked.Friendly welcome. The only thing I would say is the pub could do with a deep clean, although the toilets were clean. The soft chair cushions looked greasy and in need of a steam clean. Thanks for your reviewYour comments are really important to us.. We have scheduled the whole pub to be deep cleaned i.e. Upholstery an Carpets on Tuesday...I hope that we see you back again soon at The Mac soonRegardsThe Owner

The new town of West Hartlepool can be said to date from 1844, when the Hartlepool West Harbour & Dock Company was formed. The following January, Ralph Ward Jackson cut the first sod for the coal dock, which he opened in June 1847. The name âward roomâ de
Even by Wetherspoons standards, this pub is exceptionally good. Great choice of beers, fantastic location and lovely outdoor seating area with lovely views of some wonderful old buildings. The main positive point though is the professionalisms and friendliness of the staff. Better than any Wetherspoons pub I have visited before. And the toilets are magnificent!

The Golden Lion has the largest thatched roof in the north of England with working open coal fires and bespoke oak furniture. We pride ourselves with friendly staff and fresh food cooked on site by our talented chefs, no ready made meals here! Independant
This pub is clean and modern until you visit the ladies loo. Dirty, old fashioned and in drastic need of some money spending on them: handles missing from the pull chains, water leaking from the toilet pipes onto the floor, tiles chipped and sink taps old and generally nasty looking! I believe the toilets upstairs are fantastic but the same cannot be said for the public toilets downstairs. Come on Golden Lion get some improvements done!

Excellent value for money. Good service. Friendly staff. Beautiful countryside surrounding this hotel/pub/restaurant. Had been walking along the coast and the disused railway nearby. We felt very welcomed here after our walk.

We stopped hear for tea one night and were surprised at the atmosphere we were looking for steaks and decided to try hear we came Inna Thursday which was steak night 2 for £20 with a bottle of wine we opted for the mega steak option which was about £3 extra but was worth it the only negative we could find was that they seamed to be understaffed and they didn't highlight which deserts they didn't have took 2 trys before we decided not to bother as every time we ordered something for desert got told they'd run out of part of it or completely etc but all in all decent meal Hi, Im very sorry to hear that we had ran out of desserts we do try to keep an ample supply of dessets out at alll timed unfortunately we have clearly misjudged. I am very happy you enjoyed the rest of your visit.Parker

Travellers Rest is famous for flame-grilled food and sizzling skillets. All of our steaks are 28 day matured and there's nowhere better to get a pint when the football's on! We offer a welcoming and friendly atmosphere, unbeatable value and a great place
We hired the function room at the Travellers Rest last week for a wake, mainly due to the location and disabled access. The cost of the room was included if we chose to use in-house catering, which we did (otherwise the room hire would have been £50). We chose the "gold" buffet from the three choices and were very happy with the choices. The only reason I have given the review four stars is because there was no flexibility in food choices, e.g. swapping from quiche lorraine to a vegetarian quiche. Not too much of a problem, because the staff were happy to store extra food for our gluten-free guests, and some fresh desserts, for us ready for the event. The function room was clean and well set-out, with the food in a smaller room at the side. Decent tea and coffee was available too, and there was a dedicated bar. Would recommend for a private function.

We popped in for lunch. The pub is small, however what we had was generous sized and I recommend the home made chips! Pub is clean and bar staff friendly
