We travelled from over an hour away to come to the beach & have a nice family lunch. We decided on The Swan based on tripadvisor reviews but we were sorely disappointed. We sat outside at the only table in the sun & were quickly surrounded by people who were there to smoke. I cannot believe how inconsiderate people are to sit next to a family with young children & light up when EVERY other table was empty. Not the pubâs fault, but a designed smoking area would be an idea as it ruins other peopleâs meals. It seemed that we had sat in the âlocals only areaâ as they all seemed to know each other & basically we felt pushed out. Very unpleasant. We moved to another table & ordered some food. We were there at the start of service yet we waited an hour for food! The childrenâs burger and the adult burger were both dry & horrible. We requested the adult burger to have only cheese on it but it came with everything (pretty simple request!). Honestly wish we had just brought a picnic or done some better research before coming. Not our kind of place AT ALL. Good afternoon, First of all, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused to you and your guests during your visit to The Swan. I can see you planned your visit to us based upon our TripAdvisor reviews and therefore know the majority of reviews we receive are very positive. Our number one concern is our customers, and that all receive the very best customer service, quality food and drink. We're so sorry this wasn't made clear to you on this day. I would like to inform you that your comments have been raised with our kitchen team and we take all feedback seriously. As for your experience with outdoor smoking, the majority of guests (we had hoped) politely smoke away from people eating, however since receiving your review we have been looking into the issue and plan to introduce a clearly labelled smoking area. It would be a shame if you do not join us again, but we certainly hope you do.Brooke Perriam The Swan

Popped in here during a day out in Broadstairs, having a dog we had previously looked on here for a pub that allows dogs & served food. Well we found both, this pub is great, located just back from the beach. We walked in & as soon as we had ordered drinks they were offering a dog bowl & treats for the dog. we decided to both have a burger with chips, which was homemade & tasted great. When the food was brought out more treats for the dog arrived. A great friendly place for dog owners!!

We visited Cramptons late on a Saturday about 3.00pm and were lucky as the kitchen closes at 3.15pm. We ordered the large salsa nachos to share. When they came up the plate was huge with nachos covered in melted cheese, salsa, jalapeno peppers and separate pots of guacemole and sour cream. They were delicious and more than enough for two.I am disabled and in a wheelchair and they have a big disabled toilet which is spotlessly clean but has no lock so if people who can't be bothered to use the ordinary toilets need to go they can just walk in! Luckily this did not happen to me. I presume it is for safety reasons in case someone gets stuck in there. We read the menu while waiting for our food and they really have a lovely selection which is very reasonably priced. The other customers were really helpful holding the doors open so my husband could get me out in the wheelchair as the door opening is quite narrow.Altogether a great place and we will be back.

The Canterbury bell is a newly built family restaurant Boasting an excellent and varied menu with Rotisserie chicken at the heart of it, the Canterbury Bell makes an excellent venue to dine with friends and family. Children will love our dedicated kids me
A saturday night, fancied eating out, 5 adults 2 kids and a small dog.A fairly big car park here, parked the car in we go.A busy night inside, seated within minutes, we ordered some drinks and settled to order our food, good choice on menu.Drinks came, then the food ,food was amazing, the kids,4 and 7 waisted no time tucking in.Service was fantastic, staff freindly and a nice environment to eat in.In fact our server George was so good we found the manager, to tell him what a great evening and service we had .A pleasure to eat here, thank you guys.

We have been to the Little Albion Inn on several occasions for Sunday lunch, however our latest visit was a huge disappointment. The roast chicken leg was hard, very dry and without flavour, the cauliflower cheese was inedible. Unfortunately dessert was no better, we all chose the crumble on offer but the crumble on top of the fruit was uncooked and had, it seemed, just been placed under a grill to brown the top surface, again mostly inedible. We did point these problems out and although the waitress was very apologetic there was no comment from either management or head of kitchen. A shame, standards have declined.

The Charles Dickens is a British Gastro pub overlooking Viking bay in the seaside resort of Broadstairs.
We were allocated a comfortable table with a great view over the bay. The food was very good, and with adequate choice. Two of us chose the Bangers & Mash and the sausages were not fatty or greasy. The portion sizes were just right - sufficient but too hearty. In the Charles Dickens bar downstairs, live music was playing and it was busy with a friendly crowd. It was a good spot to be on a lovely summer's evening.Thank you for your review about your visit to the Charles Dickens. I will pass on all your feedback to the team. Many thanks

Having struggled to find somewhere we came upon this place, glad we did.We ordered drinks and sat under a gazebo'd table and was perfect.Ordered food that was really tasty and plentiful.I had ploughman's which was better than expected, my wife had fish and chips which was nice. The nachos for sharing was a little too hot with the red chillies but more than enough to go round.Pleasant service too.

We booked a table for 6 on Saturday 29th September, we were given menus on arrival, we ordered starters, and mains we were told there was only one sea bass dish left which one of our party ordered. My husdand and I ordered monk fish curry, the order was taken and then we were told it had run out, so we chose pork from the speicals board but that had all gone too. We settled on a steak and pork from the main menu but my husband asked to change his starter in light of his change of main, he asked for an avocado and crab tower, once again we were told its finished!! When my starter was brought to the table it was almost thrown at me so much so that what was on the plate toppled over into a heap. Main courses arrived, two steaks which were of poor quality and way overcooked and grey, duck which was overcooked and not rested as blood seeped out all over plate, my pork was dry with soggy skin instead of crackling. The two other mains were reported as very nice.As one plate was collected and placed on another the fork slid close to the eye of one of our party, the waitress looked down her nose and said, dont worry you've still got your eye. Within 5 minutes of the plates being collected, we were told that as we had asked for the bill the card machine would be bought to us, we had not ask for the bill, nor were we asked if we wanted a pudding and/ or coffees to follow. We would like to mention that of the three waiting staff the young male and young dark haired girl were very polite and professional, however the young blonde waitress was rude, impertinent and had a dreadful attitude. This is without doubt the worse place I have eaten in for a very long time, we visit Broadstairs fairly often and nothing would make me relive this expereince, save your money and go somwhere else!carolely2017Many thanks for your reviews, and apologies for the delay in responding but I needed some time to digest and fully investigate the comments you have made in the two reviews related to your party . I am Lemini, the Restaurant Manager and I was actually on duty at the time of your visit and despite our team working immensely hard to offer the best service we can, it would appear that on this occasion we did not get everything right. Mindful that there are two sides to every story I have spoken with all of the team working that night and would like to personally discuss this matter with you further. Could I therefore suggest that you call me directly on 01843 862013 or email me with your contact telephone number and I will call you at a convenient time. Our email address is [email protected].
