We have been here a couple of times after the races, we went again on Sunday night. We had the blackpudding in peppercorn sauce and garlic mushrooms - both really good, then the Capricossa pizza and chicken and mushroom risotto - again both really good. Great food, good service and we will be back again no doubt!

Called as staying in Wigan on business. Surprised at how busy it was on a Monday evening - could only get a table for one hour. Service was fast but we didn't feel rushed - decent house wine, excellent pasta dishes and garlic bread. My friend had a dessert but I was full. Overall great food at a fantastic price - well worth a visit.

1. Need to not complain when their guests are 5 mins late for a reservation. 5.30pm turned up at 5.35pm2. Not offer online booking and then moan âit costs them for online booking and in future to please call upâ3. Say to guests âI am taking your order in 2 mins after they have just been given menusâ. How rude!4. Not offer guests desserts or coffees and just present them the bill. Again rudeness. As you can guess we were in and out of La Mamas within 1 hour. Complained to the manager and he said that Alberts would have cancelled my booking if we were late. . Then claimed they forgot to take desserts order despite offering them to the kids.If you want rude and arrogant service, this is the place to spend your money, but plenty of other nicer venues to spend your cash. Claimed they were going to busy this evening on a Saturday despite us being the only guests in the restaurant at 6.30pm and 5 staff stood around doing nothing.

£13.95 early evening menu, available all evening Mon/Tues is good value. Wasn't overly impressed with the breaded mushrooms but the lasagne was great, and my salmon well cooked with a tasty cream sauce. No idea why there's salad on a hot fish dish though when served with a sauce, potatoes, carrots/broccoli. I'm guessing the a la Carte menu would be better quality/quantity as has a much greater choice to pick from. Wasn't convinced by the coke being genuine though. Couldn't fault the number of staff who all seemed to be enjoying what they were doing. Very busy for a Monday on both floors. So overall I enjoyed it on a budget but wouldn't give it 4 stars, next time I'll splash out to see the difference.

La Cava Restaurant Italian restaurant in Wigan serving authentic Italian cuisine, which is also available for takeaway.
It has been a number of years since we last dined here, but I am pleased to say that the experience was still outstanding. The food is excellent and not over priced either. We were in a party of six to celebrate a family members birthday and the service was spot on and faultless. The extra touch of catering for young children makes a huge difference too, happy child makes for happy adults.

NOW OPEN LUNCH...12:2pm
We booked a table to celebrate a family birthday. On arrival, we were seated in a waiting area and offered drinks while the table was made redy. Service as excellent (although the car park was really crowded and parking was difficult). The waiter then took our orders and escored us to the table. Food was served shortly afterwards. Each of us agreed that our chosen dishes were very nice. Since it was a birthday, the birthday boy was celebrated by all the waiting staff to a song (Italienversion) of Happy Birthday. We had a really good time and would be happy to return again or to recommend to others.

We were staying in the area and found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. We visited on a busy Saturday night, having booked beforehand, and we loved the whole experience. The restaurant is small, spotlessly clean and the glasses are sparkling. The food is excellent and the staff were professional and attentive without being intrusive. This place is a gem! We will definitely be back.
