Things to do in Whitley Bay
After a few (but not too many!) drinks we called in here for some food. We saw that they now not only sell pizzas, burgers but also have a sign called China Express...so we decided we would order Chinese food. Big mistake. We ordered chicken fried rice, chips, BBQ sauce, and a tray with chips, noodles, rice and curry sauce. When we got home I could see the BBQ sauce was a bizarre colour and texture, crazily sweet and no 'kick' to it too. How on earth can you get chips wrong?? I have no idea but they did. They were tasteless, soft, bland. The chicken fried rice was honestly the worst I have ever had...the chicken was beyond dry, I really couldn't eat it. Even my dog turned her nose up at it. A total waste of money and we won't be back sadly. I think they are trying to cover too many food types, they should stick to what they're good at which I am pretty sure if pizzas as I have heard ok reviews of these from friends.

Came here 9pm on a Saturday night and it was like walking in to a super cool, super hip club. We'd never seen so many good looking people all in one place before. It was noisy and happy and full to the rafters with excitement. My husband and I sat at the very back of the restaurant and although it was really busy, we were served quickly by amazing staff. We had Vegan Taco's and Vegan Pizza and Garlic bread. Of course we ordered far too much and took the pizza home (tasted amazing the next day) and we had a really decent bottle of Pinot Grigio. The food was really really good but to be honest, we were so excited about just being there and soaking up the vibe and the music that the food was secondary to the actual buzz of experiencing Elder and Wolf. What a total surprise! And what a fantastic experience. Thank you to all of the staff who were professional and really well recruited. The people who own and run this place deserve all the success they get. It's spot on and you should definitely go. Book first though. And enjoy :-)Honestly that was an incredible, incredible review and we are giggling at all the good looking people in one room quote as that was quite a thing to mention :)And it was lovely to see you both enjoying the music, the food and the atmosphere as that really is all we ever want to achieve on a great night out with us.So thank you again for coming to visit us and for writing this amazing review as we deeply appreciate you have took the time to do that!Much, much love,E&W x

A family friendly Italian restaurant in the heart of Whitley Bay. We pride ourselves on amazing food, at affordable prices.
Itâs such a shame as the food was lovely. We arrived spot on our arrival time but had to wait downstairs for our table. On seating at our table it felt very cramped and uncomfortable. Looking around we realised that other parties of 6 had a 4 seater table and 2 seater pushed together to create a lovely spacious table... we had 2 x2 seater tables making it very tight fit. On reflection we feel the wait we had downstairs was probably while these 2 table were hurriedly arranged as there was no table for 6 available, which is what we had pre booked. We then had a long wait for starters which meant we couldnât enjoy puddings and had to take them away our we would miss the show we were booked to see elsewhere. I repeat the food came out hot and was lovely but the cramped table and slow service for starters spoiled as we were stressed that we would be late.

We ate here for the first time last night and it was great! Lovely little free starters before we even got to what we ordered and friendly welcoming service. The same lovely man serves and cooks and we felt very well taken care of. We will definitely be back! Lovely wine too :-) I appreciate it very much, thank you, you are very kind

Have been here on a number of occasions but tonightâs experience was disappointing. Service was slow / abrupt, starter portions much smaller than usual and my main course was dreadful! Penne salmon had one tiny piece of salmon, no cream , no real flavour and a watery âsauceâ. When we mentioned this, we were told they had a new chef! No apology, no refund. Wonât be rushing back which is a shame when it used to be so good.

We had heard good things and went along on a Saturday evening after having booked earlier in the day.Nice surroundings with a pleasant atmosphere. However the food was not great. My starter and main course were nice and tasty, although nothing special/My wife chose the Greek Briam (mediterranean vegetables). After a long wait it arrived. This was pretty awful and looked and tasted like a cheap tin of ratatouille with a few pieces of potato thrown in and a small sprinkling of Feta dust. All you could taste was tinned tomatoes with no evidence of herbs or spices.I doubt if we will return soonWe are so sorry you felt like that. We have never had a complaint about our greek briam. You where both asked during the meal was everything ok. And you both said yes.. if you had of told us then. We could of done something about it or exchanged it for something different.Don.t know why you waited until you left restaurant to complain about it. When we could of rectified the matter at the time.Mike Nolan ( Manager )
