Walked around Sunderland on a cold October Monday night and came back to this restaurant right across from our Travelodge. We were so glad we did. My Quatro Stagione pizza with ham, mushrooms, peppers and onions was absolutely delicious. Husband had a calzone which he really enjoyed. Nice glass of house red and a Tetleys beer. I had cheesecake which was really light almost moussey shouldnât have had it but I felt like a bit of sweet. We were served by the delightful Vilma whoâs studying here but comes from Athens - yep as much as Sunderland has done feat architecture the climate for me says Athens every time!!! Theresa in the kitchen cooked beautifully. Thank you ladies for making what could have been a cold sad evening in Sunderland a warm and cosy one.

Booked (necessary) for meal before going to the nearby theatre. Very busy but food came quickly, hot, freshly prepared, and good. Could have done with a little more carbonara sauce on the pasta but both steaks and sauces good as were the starters. The ice cream option is all bought in Movenpick or general restaurant supplies, rather than specialist Italian Ice Cream so we passed on that. Had house wine - red - and it was good - the house wine is always a marker of how good a restaurant is in its selection of wine.Service fast, efficient and helpful.

At the Ivy House we do things a little differently. For us its all about choice. Yes, we sell Fosters, John Smiths and Smirnoff but we also sell Brooklyn, an eclectic range of cask and craft beers and a diverse choice of spirits. We want you to enjoy a co
Was a regular visitor to The Ivy House in the late 70's and early 80's, so was keen to visit again, for the first time in 36 years. Still a great pub, with a great selection of cask ales and craft beers. Friendly welcome and offered the chance to push an electric button to see if I would get my drink free, half price or full price ! It was the latter, but hey it was a decent pint in a true pub.Happy memoriesGood morning Thank you for your review, we are pleased you enjoyed your trip down memory lane.We hope to welcome you back again soon .....not in another 36 years :-)Kind regards Kelly

Me and the missus haven't been here since the refurb. Decor has been done to a high spec. The staff were very pleasant and informative. A good variety on the menu and we are liking the new opening hours. I had chicken Kiev simply the best and the missus had steak Diane which was equally superb. We can only say we will be back sooner rather than later. Highly recommended.

Visited for the in-laws 50th anniversay in a party of 15. Food as ever was excellent and service attentive and good humoured. Given the numbers involved all dishes were served at the same time...Possible only disappointment was being seated right at the entrance and not at the side of the restaurant meaning we felt very much on show... Nonetheless a lovely restaurant with great food and excellent service.

Final meal before my Canadian family head home. Excellent service, very tasty food and they accommodated my two year old granddaughter with pleasure. I live close to this restaurant but do not use it often, but will do in the future. Highly recommended.

My friend and I were on a business trip to Sunderland and booked at San Marino's after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, That was a good idea because the restaurant was full when we arrived. We were quickly brought our wine and a plate of delicious homemade Foccacia bread. What a lovely touch! You could also buy the bread to take home... We decided to have the hot sharing platter which was amazing - and would probably have fed a family of four!! Pasta to follow (plus a shared salad). I had the sea food pasta - which was to die for. We were the last ones in the restaurant but the lovely staff did not rush us and were chatting with us as we finished our meal leisurely.we could not recommend this restaurant enough - very reasonable, a great evening and hopefully another business trip will mean we can go back! Thank you Colin & team.
