Reviews on Italian food in Chester-le-Street, England, United Kingdom. Chester-le-Street (/ˈtʃɛstər li ˈstriːt/) is a town in County Durham, England. Its history goes back to the building of a Roman fort called Concangis. This Roman fort is the "Chester" (from the Latin castra) of the town's name; the "Street" refers to the paved Roman road that ran north–south through the town, and which is now called Front Street (shown at right).

Amalfi is set in One side of the Sun Inn pub. In Front Street in Newbottle. We serve a range of Pizza, Pasta, Chicken, Fish and steaks.
first time I have been to this restaurant and loved the interior. Drinks in the bar on arrival and then taken through into the restaurant. Excellent selection on the menu and on the specials board. We were all delighted with our choices and as I only ate half my main the staff were happy to box in up for me. We sat in the conservatory and it was a sunny evening so loved it. Friendly staff and plenty of seating but not too cramped. Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Suggesting favourites on the specials menu and replenishing drinks when necessary. Will definitely return.

After visiting Sambuca on many occasions and always been pleased with food and service, this was a massive let down. I know the restaurant has just been refurbished but the waiting staff and kitchen staff seemed to have forgotten how to run a restaurant. We were seated quickly and after ordering drinks we seemed to be forgotten about. The place wasn't overly busy and the waiters seemed to gather by the bar chatting. When we were eventually served the starters were again a decent wait and were disappointing. After our plates were taken away we were again forgotten about for nearly an hour and I had to ask about the whereabouts of our pizzas. The table next to us were having similar problems with only one of their three ordered pizzas turning up. Our pizzas eventually came but were just okay. Lot of crust and sparse on toppings. We made sure we asked for our ice cream straight away when the plates went and were similarly underwhelmed by one tiny scoop of melted vanilla ice cream. Won't be rushing back in a hurry which is a shame as it used to be so good.

Ciao *hello* Our popular North East Italian chain of restaurants have been serving up pizza and pasta to customers in Gosforth and Washington since May 2016. San Lorenzo Washington is located within the family-friendly neighbourhood of Harraton, Washingto
Had an early bird dinner around six pm. Two or three course special, Monday night. We shared potato skins and then a pizza each, very nice, too much to eat so they boxed what was left to take home. Service was very good, pleasant all throughout our meal.My only disappointment was the desert, quite a few items off the menu, my only choice was Sticky Toffee pudding with ice cream, normally that would be fine but too full to have it this time, I asked for vanilla ice cream, which seemed to be a problem, they said, I could only have one scoop with a coffee, I didnât want the coffee but that was the only way it could be put through the till, I thought I might have been able to have maybe three scoops of plain ice cream. We have provisionally booked for New Years Eve but staff couldnât say what the menu or price would be. Maybe a little late, Christmas menus have been available for a while.Dear Ian A, We are pleased to hear how much you enjoyed our great value Presto menu and that the service was also up to scratch, the confusion over dessert appears to stem from the fact that we do not offer our full dessert menu as part of the Presto offer with the only options being the Sticky toffee pudding or our 'Dolcetti' - mini desserts with a coffee, hence the offer of a scoop of ice cream with coffee. In terms of New Years eve the details are of course on the same flyer as Christmas, due to popular demand we no longer offer a set menu in favour of our regular menu along with some 'special dishes' created by our head chef.Ciao Team San Lorenzo

Visiting family in the area, we went to Il Cancello on the back of very good TA reviews. The community was not wrong.I can not say this was the perfect meal, but I can say the service was first class, the restaurant set up very good, and we found the ambience to be fitting. All in all a very pleasing experience and we would definitely return. I visited Fabioâs with my two young children on a Saturday afternoon. We didnât book but there were no problems getting seated as the restaurant was fairly quiet. We were greeted and seated by a friendly waitress who took our drinks order. The lunch menu is really cheap and you just canât go wrong for the price so I opted for potato skins for starter followed by a bolognese pizza. My children chose to also have a pizza each. The food was served promptly and tasted ok, nothing spectacular but at the price of £5.95 for 3 courses you canât grumble. This restaurant is great for anyone on a budget.

We were passing through Chester le Street and saw this modest looking Italian restaurant handily situated opposite a car park so we thought we'd give it a go.We received a friendly welcome and were surprised to see so many dining as this was a Monday evening, not the most popular night for eating out.The next surprise was finding that, on weekdays, most of the pizzas and pasta dishes are half price. I ordered spaghetti Bolognese and my wife cannelloni. Both were excellent, the Bolognese especially good with a lovely rich sauce. We both followed with tiramisu which seemed to us to be home made, anyway it was delicious. Finally the coffee was a proper strong Italian brew, which was a relief after we'd had several disappointing coffees during our trip to the North East.In summary then, the food was excellent and the price unbelievably low. If we didn't live over 200 miles away we'd be regulars!Hi,Thank you very much for your review we look forward to seeing you again soon. Kind Regards Deanos Team

Previously known as "Italia Retro Restaurant at The Board Inn"
We have eaten at this restaurant on two occasions recently, and on both occasions the food has been excellent. Each time we have arrived about 5.30pm and although not particularly busy when we arrived, the restaurant soon filed up. On our second visit we decided that the earlybird meal was inviting, so my wife went for pate' as a starter and I chose potato skins. My wife then chose stroganoff and I went for the sirloin steak with a peppercorn sauce. We both agreed that both courses were delicious, and with 2 glasses of Rose' the bill came to £41.80.which we thought was very good value. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and ambience, particularly when busy, and the staff are both jovial, and efficient. We will definately eat at The Board Inn again.
