Authentic, classic Italian. Swift service. Incredible food. Reserve to avoid disappointment as this place is always busy. Top restaurant and a new favourite.
Italian take away and restaurant. We serve delicious pasta, Sandwiches with fresh Italian salumi, salads, breakfast, aperitif and products such as Estathé, Mulino Bianco Biscuits, Fonzies and a lot of others Italian typical products.
So you order as described on the menu and the girl at the til looks at you quizzically - so you repeat, and again blank expression. So you try another description of an item on the menu - this isn't mean to sound how it might come across, but they dont speak or understand English too well - as was evident. However, we finally got an order underway, one Penne and one paccheri rigati both with Ragu sauce (well that's what is says on the menu - but no, we were corrected "oh you mean Bolognese?!! derrrr!!)Order completed it wasn't apparent do we stand there or go to be seated and wait for them to bring it over - how long to cook pasta? 8-9mins.....well...so they took 25mins, closer to 30, absolute joke. They served take-away lunch customers (with hot pasta) before customers seated, like us, and indeed other diners were served (all pasta) out of sync with ordering - i was literally 30 seconds away from getting a refund and walking out as a girl walked over nonchalantly and leaned over two adjacent tables to serve us without so much as a by or your leave. So they forgot that we'd ordered one Penne, in instead served both paccheri rigati, ok that was fine, the ragu (ok ok, the Bologese!) was average at best, no richness or depth of flavour, fairly watery and mostly tomato sauce, the "meat" was kind of non-descript, it was dry-ish, hard-ish texture, not like any decent quality mince ive ever cooked with. The place is really like a 6th Form College Canteen, people in their, mostly 18-25, hanging around chatting and joking with the staff members they knew, not buying or eating food, indeed staff were sitting in the window bar table, taking away 4 seats for paying customers. The cold food, such as paninis etc are all done much better by many outlets in Brighton, there was and is nothing remotely "Italian" about this place nor the food, purportedly "authentic Italian" - what rubbish. No, i wont return and dont recommend you waste your money and time here. It'll be closed within 18mths, seen them come seen them go, sadly just another run of the mill food outlet without any redeeming qualities.Dear Customer,Thank you for the review and the time spent writing it.We apologize for the difficulty in communicating, unfortunately in recent days our mother tongue Barista got sick and we had to work with the Italian and Spanish guys in the staff. Being a take-away restaurant, pasta is always in the boilers, so in a few minutes you can buy and go.If we are asked, as in your case, for a particular type of pasta (such as Paccheri) that is not boiling, we are willing to do it, but it is necessary to wait for the cooking time, which for Paccheri is 13-16 minutes. The staff should have informed you of this during your purchase, if it has not been done I apologize on behalf of the guys and we will pay more attention starting from today.I'm sorry that you didn't like Bolognese sauce, despite being one of the favourite of our regular customers. Many schools find our dishes cheap and tasty, which is why we receive many young customers during our lunch break. Two classes are enough to fill the room and the average age reaches 20 years. Young people are the future! That's why even the staff is very young, they will have a lot to learn, but we want to invest in them!I'm sorry you judged our panini without tasting a single piece. Our ingredients are fresh and 100% Italian, which is absolutely not easy to find in "many outlets in Brighton". Cheese and Salumi (ham, parma ham, mortadella, bresaola, speck) are cut fresh every morning and the bread is supplied by the bakery Vero Gusto in St. James. Even the bread is baked every day for Grazie Mille and what is left in the evening is consumed by the employees or donated to the homeless. The Panini are priced between 2 and 3 pounds, honest price and affordable for everyone.I'm sorry you had a negative experience, we will try to improve ourselves day after day with the hope of seeing you again in 18 months.Yours sincerely,

Semola is an authentic Italian restaurant offering fresh homemade pasta with a specific pasta machine and all homemade desserts. The management of the restaurant is organized by an Italian family.
Popped in on the off chance on a rainy Saturday night having heard mixed reviews. Were welcomed immediately and given a great not too noisy table in the window. Lovely atmosphere - casual but smart type bistro feel, modern and clean. Extensive authentic pasta menu which lived up to expectations and we are hard to please! - really appreciated the extra touches - big bowl of olives at no charge came with the drinks, water served in individual jugs with slice of lemon. Generous side salad (not the usual mean variety other restaurants serve). Crispy generous portion of garlic bread. Very reasonably priced too. We will return!

LA TANA we are a family owned restaurant that specialise in fresh Italian cuisine, in a friendly atmosphere. We are offering best Italian food. Come and try our new HOT STONE STEAK cook it how you like it. ONLY at LA TANA.
Went for dinner with a friend who is regular and what can I say. One of the best Italian food experiences in long time. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food is amazing and plate presentation is beautiful. The restaurant was very busy. My starter was Polpette al sugo followed by the main course Petto di pollo alla Milanese. Very tasteful, beautifully prepared and felt very satisfied. Reminds me of the food served in Sorento. Will be back very soon.

Vegan Italian restaurant with pizza, nutritious and delicious raw food dishes and great tasting (healthy!) desserts.
Interesting that the first thing the hostess said when we asked for a table for two... âEverything is vegan, is that ok?â Yes!Friendly service, albeit a bit slow. Absolutely worth the wait. Delicious cocktails. Unbelievable crust on the pizza. We got a cheese and potato pizza and a beetroot and artichoke heart pizza. Beets werenât cooked enough so texture was unpleasant, but still packed with flavor. The cheese and potato pizza was phenomenal. No room for dessert, but all looked really good. A definite must for another visit. I actually watched a guy walk out because there was no meat when the hostess told him everything is vegan. Now the question made sense. His loss.

Great little wine cafe in downtown Brighton. As an Italian wine freak I'm usually disappointed in the selection and expected the same from a wine cafe in England. I mean beer is really the focus for the country after all. Was I in for a surprise. Luca and Megan were so helpful and friendly and their choice was spot on. Not expensive to break the bank AND good enough in flavor and body to make even me happy!! Tapas were also great. Friendly place and I'd go again if I'm ever in Brighton again!! Cheers!!

Friendly & relaxed family run Italian Restaurant with authentic northern Italian cuisine
This little restaurant was close to our hotel in Brighton and we booked online which was easy. We ordered the garlic bread which was delicious, and for mains we ordered the lasagna and the salami pasta. Both were excellent and pretty authentic Italian. We ordered a bottle of wine. The service was also excellent. Well worth a try.
