Decided to give this place another go rather stupid the food looked good when it arrived but it was tasteless Fried Rice, was a bit soggy Sweet Sour Chicken, not to bad Sauce was nice, Chicken Chow Mien really was the driest tasteless l have ever had. Maybe a bit more flavour on the food would make a difference. Will not be trying again for a long time. I will stick to places outside Basildon

This is one of the best fish and chip take always in the area. Fish is very succulent batter is nice not over fried and for a medium cod you will never go wrong their chips are proper chips lovely taste and not matchsticks but big lovely ones a portion is enough for 2 people to share. The staff and owners are lovely.
Lawson's Pie & Mash was founded to continue the traditional pie and mash from London but with a modern twist. We're a family business and our Pies are made from an authentic recipe that has been passed down through the generations. Our pies are hand made
I visited Lawsons new pie and mash shop today in Basildon as I was a big fan of the previous shop in Wickford. This new shop definitely has a traditional feel to it and the new fixtures and fittings ha e given this place a 'New twist'. The food was nice and I have to disagree with a previous review that Robins is better. I also grew up in the East end and have been to many P&M shops. This does taste traditional although it needs the condiments (salt, white pepper and chilli vinegar) to really bring the flavour to life. It's not the best pie and mash Ive ever had but it s definitely worth a visit and is conveniently closer to me than Leytonstone or Bethnal Green. Price was £3.45 for a single and they offered free tea and coffee on a Monday and Tuesday.I will be back! Thankyou for leaving a review. Glad you enjoyed our Pie & Mash, looking forward to seeing you again.
Rice fields se4ves nice food at a reasonable price. This time unfortunately the6 go5 one dish wrong and I had to go back to collect the correct one. On the plus side the6 had given us some free pancake rolls. Their salt and chilli ribs were pretty poor though, possibl6 the wirs5 I have ever had so I would not recommend them.

Ordered 2 King Prawn chow meins and a few other dishes. Food would have been ok if too much soya sauce was not added. Bit annoyed they charge an extra 50p for debit cards

Ordered food by phone to be delivered - On the phone after ordering I was asked for my 'address' which I gave my full address and telephone number (which was also asked for). Food arrived 30 mins later, as I answered the door the delivery lady (short, middle aged woman) aggressively stated 'CHINESE?' so I replied 'yes?' she very abruptly raised her voice and said 'YOU'VE GOT 3 MISSED CALLS FROM ME I HAD NO IDEA WHERE YOU LIVED THAT'S THE WHOLE REASON WE TAKE YOUR NUMBER SO NEXT TIME YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU STAY NEAR YOUR PHONE' she continued to huff and puff with anger...telling me that it is my responsibility to make sure the restaurant know EXACTLY where I live (if this is the case then the restaurant should ask for more specific details when the customer orders). I was confused that someone who has my full address was unable to find my door, she stated that there are a lot of flats round the corner so she 'had no idea' where I lived. Every single door is numbered here so maybe shes not the sharpest tool in the shed.Overall, I was very disappointed that I was shouted at and made to feel like I had done something wrong. I gave my full address as instructed then next thing I know there is a delivery driver aggressively confronting me because SHE couldn't locate my address? in my opinion that is more her fault that mine. FOOD: The food was ok, nothing special just your average chinese but I won't be ordering from here again as 'China City' which is just further down Whitmore Way is much nicer. Terrible service, average food... would not recommend.

Had lunch with my friend after a long ride from Luton Airport to Basildon. We decided to have lunch there. We ordered breakfast, which the bacon was too greasy, the tomatos were soggy, the eggs were hard. We ordered freah orange juice but I don't know what was fresh about it as it tasted like medication...Also didn't felt quite welcomed, as me and my friend we are both foreigners and we were talking to eachother in our own language. As soon as the staff and the few customers which were there heard us they immediately started to talk about "us foreigners" coming to get their jobs and asking for free things and all kind of rude comments.First of all, they were all above 50-60 years old, and they shouldn't talk like that, not in this day and age, second of all I am a manager in a multinational corporation and my friend she is a doctor and we do pay quite a bit of taxes, taxes from where those gentlemans and ladies pensions and benefits are paid. Probably they should focus a bit more on the cleaning side of the restaurant as the floor was very greasy and slippery. Not a very welcome place if you are a foreigner under 35 yo.

I was very impressed with the selection of Quorn dishes this restaurant offered, you don't tend to find that in most places. The prices are pretty reasonable, although they do not accept card payments, it's cash only on delivery or collection. The rest of the menu seems pretty standard for your average Chinese takeaway service, friendly staff, pretty clean premises. All in all a nice place to get a decent Chinese meal.

I have moved from Wickford but I still go back here for my fish and chips. The food is great and the portion size is generous . There is never a massive wait time despite always being busy. None of the local chippies compare!!

Revamped Ho Ho Chinese takeaway under new management since October 2014. Online orders available.no minimum order, card payments accepted. Delivery service available ,
I don't have takeaways very often so when I do I make sure it's a good one. Having checked out reviews on TA Ho Ho sounded the best by far...and I wasn't disappointed! I decided to go down and order rather than phone get delivery and I'm glad I did, this place was CRAZY busy, phones off the hook and I have to say the girls taking the orders were doing a great job managing the phones as well as the constant walk-ins. Went for our usual go to dishes, sweet and sour chicken Hong Kong style, boiled rice, vegetable Singapore Rice noodles, all of which were REALLY good! Great portion size and tastes amazing. I also tried szechuan lamb, but I didn't enjoy it quite as much as the rest. I will definitely be using Ho Ho again and would definitely recommend to friends / family.
