Find out what European restaurants to try in York. Just two hours north of London by rail, the city of York holds 1900 years' worth of history in its ancient walls. The Romans built the city in 71 AD, and the Vikings captured it in 866 AD. Stop by the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens for a look at what the Roman and Vikings left behind (they must have packed light when they left). From there, move on to the York Castle Museum for a not-so-quick overview of the most recent 400 years.

Our welcoming licensed café and deli has a distinctly European feel. We fuse French and Italian cuisine seamlessly with the best that Yorkshire has to offer.
Dropped in for lunch after a meeting and the place is usually quite busy, you can eat in or take out. We stayed in, friendly staff, very good food. The do a mixture from a light snack to more substantial specials, with the kitchen in full site of the restaurant. Also it is way bigger than it looks from the front.

Delrio's Restaurant offers home-cooked Italian food with a strong Sardinian influence in a lively environment. Enjoy candle-lit dining in this atmospheric cellar restaurant located adjacent to the historic Micklegate Bar and just a few minutes walk from Y
What a great underground find. The restaurant is downstairs in a cellar, which provides for some great alcoves and a fantastic atmosphere. We didn't have a reservation for a Thursday night visit, but when we turned up a 6pm, they had just opened and managed to squeeze us in. I would recommend a reservation though, as by the time we left at 7.30pm, the place was really busy. Great food and service, what a fantastic place, highly recommended.

Booked an evening table at a time that suited the restaurant. We love Polish food and found the restaurant to be attractive, rustic & cosy. Both starters were tasty, one main was very good but the other was just average. Desserts were reasonable. Iâd have scored it 4/5 except our meal was ruined by the fact it was served with ridiculous haste. If you book a table for an evening meal in a restaurant, the industry standard is to allow your diners 2 hours. However, we had our starters, mains and desserts all served up within 40 minutes of sitting down. Even a request for a break wasnât accommodated. Sadly, it ruined our meal as it seems they wanted to accommodate âwalk inâ diners before the next table reservation was due. Thatâs just plain greedy and not acceptable when our table was an advance reservation. Hence we wonât be returning and have dropped the score by two points.

Whilst In york we booked Meltonâs for dinner last Saturday night, and what an experience it was. From walking in the door we were greeted by our server and seated.we were then given the wine list and also brought some canapés which were so tasty. Then to follow we had an amouse bouche of the amazing soup with some lovely warm homemade small loaves of bread. We could have both happily eat lots more of this.We had scallops, fish, and soufflé to follow and all the courses were excellent, they need to keep hold of the chef as he is worthy of Michelin stars. We had coffee and petit fours to end a lovely night.Of all the meals we had during the four nights in york this was the most outstanding one, topped Arras restaurant! So sad we do not live closer so we could visit again.Thankyou to all the staff for making this night special.

This restaurant had been highly recommended. It was extremely busy.Staff were very pleasant but were clearly rushed.Menu very limited, everything very organic. An amuse -bouche was served ,which was absolutely delicious, served with equally delicious bread rolls, very well presented. I struggled to choose something of the main course which was very minimal We all had mixed reviews as I didnât really enjoy it that much, and although my husband quite enjoyed it,he didnât think it was worth it.The others enjoyed theirs, we all had pudding but chocolate tart was well overcooked as the chocolate was very grainy and ice cream totally melted. All in all,the meal was expensive for what it was.Portions were quite small for anyone with a good appetite.I wouldnât rush back.

We've just had another stunning meal at the Park Restaurant. The kitchen team need to be congratulated for creating such wondeful and innovative dishes. The tasting menu is simply out of this world and the accompanying wines are world-class.The serving team - Catherine, Harriet and Maria are just great as well as being extremely knowledgable about the dishes and wines. The ambience is spot-on, with well-spaced tables. Well done.

Great range of tapas and plenty of vegetarian options.Specials board too with a another great section. Service was extremely friendly and efficient. The majority of our tapas were delicious especially the mushroom croquettes, wow, they were amazing. The patatas bravas however were quite a disappointment, the cubes of potato were too big, sauce rather bland and not much of it.Will definitely return we are in York next time and look forward to trying other things on the menu. Such great value for money and lovely cosy ambience.Thank you so much for the feedback! We are so sorry about the Patatas, this really isn't something we hear, its usually people asking for the recipe! We will certainly investigate this. See you again soon!

This is our third visit and it was gorgeous again . We normally go for the set 2 course but we went for the as la carte for a change. It was fab. My only grip is they asked us if we wanted water. We said yes please and was brought a bottle but with no mention it would be £2.95. Never been charged for water in a restaurant before
